An update from me.

I finally got my Fiance to call the USCIS today (calling the USCIS is NOT useless - we were very lucky he did call today). When he called to find out why the NOA1 was taking so long the person told him they were going to send it back to him because the application was missing a form (G-325a form - biographical form), when they checked it was there (they saw a "tab" on the one so thought there was only one copy instead of 4!!), and so said that they would process it today!! :( I'm so upset - that is two weeks of wasted time! So we now hope to get the NOA1 notification today or tomorrow!! Holding thumbs its today! WOW i'm super upset but I guess i should be happy that things will get moving now...

Good luck to everyone!! :)

Yay! That's so awesome. I'm glad you called. Even though it's a delay, it must be so nice to finally know it's going somewhere. Now you don't have to keep wondering!

Hey Kirsty, I'm preparing my K1 package to mail out next week and am planning on putting in tabs to separate the different parts of the application- is that a bad idea? In an earlier post you mentioned something about USCIS thinking that the G325A form was covered up by a tab or something like that? If you could explain a little more I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Hey! :)

No no, tabs are good to seperate each section. The person just said that they saw a tab saying "petitioners G-325a form" and thought there was only one copy - didn't bother to look behind the passport photo where the other three copies were. Not sure why, because we had another tab after his saying "benificiary G-325a form" and they never questioned there "not being another 3". It is a very good idea to use tabs (at the bottom of the page though - not the sides. I read this in one of the instructions). It just makes it easier for them to see if all is in order (in our case i'm not sure why they didn't just check).

But please do use tabs like you want to :)

Good luck with the process - keep us up to date with notifications etc :)

Hey, thanks for the clarification. I think I'm still a little confused though because I thought the G325A form is only one page, plus any attachments with information about prior addresses, employment etc, and that we just need one copy for me and one copy for my fiance. I've read other posts that say we just need one copy as well...does that mean we actually need 4 original signed copies of the G325A form per person or is just one original signed copy ok? Thanks!!

From what I understand, only the Petitioners G-325A is initially required with the submission of the I-129F, and that your Beneficiaries can be submitted at the Embassy/Consult during your interview (Benificiary). I may be wrong, so don't quote me on that, but I also know that front-loading is a positive approach to submitting your petition. They only require the two, and any attachments that belong to the G-325A.

Ok, thanks for the reply. When you say "only the two", do you mean only two copies of my G325A form with original signatures (I guess that means all the attachments need to be copied as well), or do you mean my copy and my fiance's copy? Thanks, I really appreciate the reply!

I feel your pain. We have been waiting 33 days for our NOA1. I tried calling USCIS a couple times after the 2 and 3 week points and they told me that I would have to wait 30 days to contact them. So 30 days passed and it was the weekend. I finally got my call escalated to an officer and they told me the post office returned the document as undeliverable (I moved here 3 months ago but the post office is well aware of my new residence). The officer gave me my case number and I ended the call and went online to check my status. It said this:

On October 14, 2010, the post office returned your document I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) as undeliverable. We will hold it for 180 days from October 14, 2010 to allow you time to contact us. If you do not contact us at 1-800-375-5283 within 180 days, this document will be destroyed and you will need to file a new application or application for replacement with fee.

My blood was boiling and I quickly called them back to see if this was my NOA1 that was sent back to them or if they were actually sending me back my I129F, as their message states. Fortunately, it was the NOA1 that was returned. She gave me the date of the NOA1 and get me at ease (for now). I just hope that the info she is passing along to me is correct and they are not sending me back my I129F for error corrections.

@July2009 - the G325a is only one form. I read somewhere in instructions that we needed to submit 4 copies, so I made 3 copies of my original G325a form, which made four copies, and so did my Fiance.

On the cover letter that they ask you to fill out and put on the front of the application it lists what should be in the pack - both the Petitioner and the Benificiary G325a's are mentioned on there so I put both ours in the package.

The only thing I attached to the original G325a's were our passport size photos like it says...

So we each had one original signed form, with photo attached to the back, then three copies of the original (hope this makes sense). But I'm not sure now with this paper reduction act. I would put 4 in just incase, because when my fiance called they said they not all there, but they were.

@Dogspot - wow!! That is hectic!! I hope it is the NOA1 and not the I-129F!! Please keep me posted with your process :)

Goodluck to you both and I hope some good news in a hard copy reaches you soon!

Can't believe that happened to you - so sorry! :( but keep the positive thinking, just like I'm trying to do! :)

i was actually freaking out as well about our NOA1 but i woke up this morning had a lovely email from the lockbox. As I called my mom stressing out she reminded me, a watched pot never boils. So just relax, focus on something else and it will come. (and if the wait gets too long start annoying people).

GOOD LUCK!
