I'm still pretty new to this and kind of confused. Is the interview for the I-130, I-485 or both? If the interview is just for the adjustment of status, will I find out if the I-130 is approved before the actual interview?

Thanks everyone! :)

I believe it is for the I-485, but probably both. Usually, once the I-485 is approved, the I-130 is approved immediately. That was our case anyway. You may have your I-130 approved before the interview, though.

Good luck with your journey!

The Purpose of the I-130 is to establish a relationship... betwen the petitioner and the applicant. TheI-485 is as is.. to adjust one's status... the interrview I'd say would be for the I-130 to prove the relationship.. The I485 is just info submitted to see if one is able to adjust while in the usa..

Others might have something to add.

Thanks for the quick responses. I figured I may get mixed responses.

I'm pretty confident about the I-130 since we sent a lot of documents to prove our relationship like 5 years of joint leases together, our children's birth certificates w/ both our names, utility bills, family pictures with each other's families, etc.. I didn't feel like we needed affidavits from family and friends, but the only thing that concerns me is that they may wonder why it took us so long to get married if we've been together for 7 years. We just got married last June...and the reason why it took so long was because we wanted to wait until we both got our degrees. And yes, we apparently did everything #### backwards since we had our children first, got our degrees, then got married.. lol  And also.. I read in some people's cover letters where they put an actual timeline of their relationships as a supporting document and we didn't do that (and I think it would have helped if we did)... so the reason why I am asking this question is because I am hoping they approve my I-130 without question! But if not.. I guess we'll just have to explain this at the interview :star:

I removed my conditions back in june 2007 . I right send uscis any affidavits from ANY one, didn't send them a time line because all this was unnessary.
