they had all their precious time to double check a hundered time, why would they just make people suffer??????????

We were just in AP for 8 months.. others are still in AP a year or more.. each case is different and there is little to nothing that can be done to get things done any faster than they want to take.. at this point it is in the hands of the CO and it is up to the CO as to when you will get final approval...

moving to the embassy/consulate discussion as this topic is a consular level issue..

My husband had his interviewew Aug 24. I was with him. He also got AP. And the interview they put us thru was pure HELL!

They told us maybe 4-6 weeks, maybe 5 months, maybe a year!

They take their sweet time with this I think!

My senator's office contacted the embassy and the embassy told them it should be done in less than 5 months.

I know one couple who had AP for 5 1/2 months, another had almost 2 months, and saw one here on VJ that finished in less than a month. (All these stats are for Jordan.)

Today makes 54 days for us. I pray it ends this month... but who knows!

Good luck!

Your case requires administrative processing, they do background checks. If your name comes up on a terrorist list. This is standard for middle eastern countries. Some take time and some get it faster.

Well, i just got back from an office, this office do look after ur case, and the guy said he can get it done in a faster time, and the background check is on both petitioner and beneficiary. As far as i know, i don't have a criminal record, and i am sure not a terrorist but who knows what the embassy gonna tell.. so do you think we should contact the senator??

Zain, I am just wondering exactly what the 221g they gave you says.

We attempted a K1 last year and it was returned to USCIS for further processing because they didn't believe our relationship was real.

We married in Oct last year and did the CR1. This time I was at the interview with him. This 221g was worded differently... stating mandatory administrative processing.

Check and see what your paper says. If they sent it back to USCIS, this is a long process and it's usually faster to cancel the K1, get married and file CR1.

Mandatory AP is usually background checks and the procedure seems to be that they ask for the names and birthdates of your brothers and sisters.

Again... good luck!

Is this a lawyer or someone else?

My hubby is interested in going to this office, too!

yeah...sounds like AP, which has no set time frame of being done. And another note, a 221G can be used for a variety of reasons, we received one on a refusal worksheet, but also know that the consulate/embassy can not officially deny a visa. They make seperate deicisions from the Service Center (VSC or CSC) in the US. So what happens (for any interested) with refusals from the consulate is that they refuse the case & return it to the Service Center with a recommendation that the Service Center withdraw the original approval & officially deny the visa. So both the consulate & Service Center must deny or approve a case for a visa to be issued or denied. Best of luck with your AP...hope is goes quickly & smoothly.

Monica :)

I think you may be confusing the petition with the visa. The consulate can deny the visa, but they cannot revoke the approval of the petition. Only USCIS can do that. As long as there is an approved petition then the beneficiary remains eligible to apply for a visa, so theoretically they could keep submitting visa applications. In order to prevent this the consulate sends the petition back to USCIS with a recommendation that the approval be revoked.

AP is pretty much automatic in countries that are known to have active terrorist groups with a declared animosity toward the United States, and not necessarily because the country is Islamic or has a majority Muslim population. For example, Indonesia has the largest Muslim population of any country in the world, but they don't have a problem with terrorist groups to the degree that Pakistan does, for example, and the groups they do have are focused more on internal politics. The same with Malaysia. In these countries the consulates are more concerned about sham relationships for immigration than about security threats to the US.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!
