Not a soda fan here, but I was kind of surprised by the popularity of Dr. Pepper here. (I'm a Yankee by birth)

I've also been surprised by the large variety of odd soda flavors here that seem to be popular with the Mexican population. Some of them look...interesting. I've tried the pineapple, was just weird for me.

Mrs. T-B. & I drink tamarindo (tamarind) cola often, si man. It's important to drink the right brand, though -- Topo Sabores, in the 2-liter plastic bottle, is best. Their other flavors (peach, apple, pineapple) are also pretty good, si man. Conversely, the tamarindo soda that's made by El Jarrito (or similar name) tastes like #######, aarrgh man -- we bought a bottle once and had to spill most of it out.

I find it fascinating that, in the local Mexican supermarket, I observe the, uh, natives buying at least as much American beer as they buy Mexican beer, si man. If I drank beer much, I'd choose Corona, Tecate, or Dos Equis over most Americano beers anytime, yes hombre.

Edit: In larger supermarkets with "international" food aisles, one can often find 2-liter bottles of Inca Kola, made in Colombia. It's approximately the color of 7Up and has a faint pineapple taste, but I can't identify it beyond that. Very smooth, si man. I must have drunk 7 or 8 regular-sized (like Coke) bottles of it in Ecuador (chiefly out of boredom) while Mrs. T-B. was having her hen party with her hyskool classmates, si man.

I think Inka Cola tastes like bubble gum (not my favorite).

As for the poll, I'm Yankee and although not a big soda drinker, I prefer Coca-Cola then Dr. Pepper. My dad works for C. C. so Pepsi is the "enemy", though that's not why I drink it.
