Maybe I am getting to ahead of myself here. The syncing between DOS and the Consulate here probably isn't updated until the applicant actually gets the visa on thier passport. Maybe to make sure they don't make a mistake before they actually stamp the visa on the passport. That is if the applicant needs additional processing once the passport gets to thier office. In my opinion by them asking for my husbands passport, that is a good sign. Hopefully I will get it back by next week.

I just keep getting worried everytime I read others posts about how they were asked to send thier passports in for visa issuance, and once they did, they got put into AP. This process has become soooooo much more complicated than a couple of years ago. I know MANY coupples who went through this process and they got the visa without any complications. Some even had criminal records and some whos petitioners were only born in the U.S and lived the rest of thier lives abroad!!! I just sit and think about applicants like me who actually live in the states and who really shouldnt have any problem getting thier spouses the visa.. and the others who barely had residance in America and get the visas without any problems. It drives me crazy.

I would think AP should happen when the police records get sent in to the embassy. Isnt that what AP is for?? Any criminal backround? Why should they check again AFTER approval? Approval means O.K.. not MAYBE!!!! Why do they tell us that it is approved when honestly, it really isn't????? And why does AP take so dang long? Come on! We have waited long enough, spent so much tima away from our spouses, and God know how much stress we have endured to get to the day we get approved. I think something should be done to shorten AP process down significantly. At the most 3 months. I mean, why do some cases take so long??? Today we have technology that connects two people living on two different ends of the world. Files and information gets sent thru the Internet in the blink of any eye. It shouldnt take this long to decided if a person on AP should get the visa or not.

UKHHHH I have so much more to say.. but I'm going to be patient and positive. I'm going to stick to believing that the Jerusalem consulate would'nt have asked my husband to send his passport in to have the visa stamped on it if that wasn't thier intention. Inshallah we get the passport back soon.. so I can start packing.. which is another hell... looooool =)

Well if the US would get all their agencies to use the same computer systems and the computers could actually communicate with each other as far as the databases go, the AP process would be a lot smoother. But since they don't any request for information from an agency must be done manually and then you wait. And since a lot of the files have not been digitized they may have to go actually pull the paper file and check it.

Then there are the checks with other countries that must be done, etc, etc.

It is more than a criminal check, they have to see if his name is on a terrorist list or associate of a terrorist, if he has given money to a terrorist group, if he ever walked past a terrorist, etc.

Also they do fingerprints and facial matches as we all know real terrorist do not use their real names.

So the whole process is one big mess and all I can say is I hope it is resolved quickly and he receives his visa soon.

Walked past a terrorist? Thats ridiculous. I understand and agree to why they have to do such checks. I just don't understand why it would take some cases over one year for a decision to be made.

Anyone with any ties to terrorism have to realize that they WILL BE PROSECUTED.

Thankyou and hopefully it will be resolved soon

I sent an email asking if it was approved and not in AP two days ago, and I haven't gotten a reply back from the consulate. When did you send in the email? Why did you pay 100NIS? I was only told to pay 50NIS. MAybe you paid more bc you sent in pictures too? Im not sure.

Well, Inshallah kher. If both our calls were recieved on the same day, then hopefully we will get them together.

Im now worried why I didnt get an email either!!!! DId they reply right away or did it take them a couple of days?

plus do u know why u were in AP? They never told us we were, just when I called DOS the man told me, but it also had said that they requested his passport. Sorry for all the questions. I will keep you posted and you do as well. Good luck! Inshallah we will get them together
