Have you guys seen the commercials against taxes on sodas and stuff like that? Using the old tell government to stay out of my business propaganda. Or the latest claiming HFCS is no different to sugar.

It's amazing how in the US, private companies or groups are permitted to screen such propaganda but no one else is. Abroad, the governments tend to have commercials discussing their plans. Not over here, only private entities with deep pockets get to use the media to their advantage.

To claim HFCS is as normal as H20 and neglect to mention that it's rarely used outside the US and linked to the rise in heart disease, obesity, cancers etc etc. That it's significantly cheaper to produce than real natural sugar and receives million in those pesky "big-government" subsidies.

The irony of it is that there probably wouldn't even be a HFCS without the huge corn subsidies that the politicians who are in bed with corporate farming continue to pork out.

As for BPA in the U.S., I believe the food industry is already looking into alternatives but claim it is years away from phasing BPA out. To me, that's a cop out. If consumer demand were high enough for BPA free products, we'd see the food industry stop using it over night.

People need to realize they vote with their wallets when it comes to things like this. If you want $2 a gallon milk containing bovine growth hormone, you're gonna get it.

Another solution is to remove the price supports for sugar production in the US. The international market (Cuba) sells sugar for 80% less than what the artificial price is in the US. I am all for ending corn subsidies, including ending subsidies for ethanol production.
