Hi all,

We filed an AOS package early last august. Everything went fine, and we have the interview scheduled for November 10. The thing is that my wife lost her job. Is it going to be a problem at the interview? I'm in the US on a J1 visa and have an income. Can I use my income for the i-864?

Any advice, ideas, welcome.

Thanks and the best of luck to all of you in your journey

I'm not sure how it will play out at your interview, or if it will even come up. Of course, if it does come up, be honest about everything. If it does come up, I would guess (and this is a GUESS) that they might make you refile form I-864. And if they do, I think you have a couple of options:

- If you're wife has any assets (savings, stocks, etc) she can use those as a means of support for you. Of course, the value of those assets needs to be a certain level.

- Your wife doesn't need to be the only person who can support you. Her family members can also vouch to support you. USCIS just wants to be sure you aren't going to arrive in the USA and apply for welfare - they want to make sure you are someone elses problem and not theirs.
