Trying to deal with the Colombian Consulate in TO

Hi...

I really hope someone out there can help me with this one...

I have been trying to contact the Colombian Consulate in TO, on and off since January. They have yet to answer when I call, nor a reply to my emails (in English or in SPanish). Finally, in August, I just bought a ticket and flew there (from Wpg) as I knew I had to get a Colombian Police certificate for the K-1 visa and I had to apply in person anyway. Had they responded to my email/phone call I would have been in and out and taken up no more than 15 minutes of their time, but no... I spent the better part of the day (10am-330 pm) running in and out and to the post office doing what I could have done ahead of time had I known... Apparently the $190 I spent to get my papers directly to DAS in Bogota worked as there were there in 2-3 days. YAY!

The secretary, Angela, called my house on September 16, excited to tell me that my papers had returned from Bogota. Again, YAY! However.. I have yet to receive anything and the tracking number on the ($30) Express-Post envelope I left her, continues to turn up "no results." Clearly I need to confirm with the consulate whether or not my papers were actually sent but, HOW DO I GET A HOLD OF A REAL PERSON TO ASK THAT QUESTION?

As of right now I am typing a letter to send registered mail to the consulate. Any one have any other ideas?

Is it possible that the Express-Post envelope could have been mailed but "lost" before it was scanned into the system?

Getting this one piece of paper has been the most frustrating aspect of the whole process, and it is now holding everything up! :-[

thanks

06/29/11 - received email notification of arrival

08/05/11 - still no word on EAD - no RFE, no NOA... Wondering if this is something to worry about?!

08/11/11 - biometrics apt in Fairbanks (apt letter listed AOS only)

FYI: My papers were FINALLY put in the mail TODAY, after sitting in Toronto for over a month. I never did get a hold of anyone myself but the Consulate General at the Colombian Consulate in Houston phoned on my behalf. Turns out I taught her daughter. I am soooo grateful! I should receive my papers by Friday of this week... unless Canada Post screws up?!

From what I can see, the Toronto Consulate is particularly frustrating to deal with. Very inefficient and extremely hard to get a hold of anyone unless you go in person.
