Hey, don't know if this question even belongs here, but the powers that be can move it if they want.

I'm kind of curious about how and when member status changes on this site. Let me clarify. Right now, I'm showing as just being a "member" with three squares by my username. Is this status based on actual time or number of posts? And what are the cut-offs for each level...Kinda curious...

January 2004: Met Laurent at the Bibliothèque nationale in Paris

February 2004: We became an actual couple

January 29th, 2006: I left France to return to the United States--AWFUL to say goodbye!

June 2006: Finally convinced Laurent that a K-1 visa would be more time-effective than trying to get an H-1

August 1st, 2006: The K-1 petition is finally in the mail and on its way to Nebraska...WooHoooo!! And yes, I remembered to attach the check! :-)

August 3rd, 2006: USPS online tracking shows that my petition (sent certified) was received at the NSC at 5:05am

August 14th, 2006: NOA1 received USPS!! (I-129F recv'd at CSC: 8/4; NOA date: 8/10; last touched: 8/11)

October 2nd, 2006: I MISTAKENLY thought we had an approval...False alarm...Back to waiting...

October 3rd, 2006: TOUCHED!!

October 4th, 2006: REALLY AND TRULY APPROVED!!! Email notification lists 10/3 as the NOA2 date.

Later that same day: TOUCHED...AGAIN! Hope that means I'm in a cozy box and moving to NVC this week...

October 10th, 2006: Received official NOA2 via snail mail.

October 19th, 2006: Case received at NVC!! AWESOME!!

October 20th, 2006: Case forwarded to Paris!! DHL says two shipments were headed that way. Must be in there somewhere...

October 27th, 2006: Received official receipt letter from NVC via USPS.

I have been wondering that too Kirsten. I have three squares as well, lots of posts, and we both have young timelines...

Inquiring minds want to know! :yes:

I wonder if hovering around the site, logged in and waiting for my NOA1 counts as well??? :unsure:

Thanks! I was guessing it was probably a total post thing, and I did already find in "My Controls" where it shows my total number of posts. But I still don't understand the cut-offs for each level. I have just over 75 posts...So shouldn't I have four squares now? Or is it some mysteriously STAGGERED system that I can't discern on my own...?

Still slightly confused...though less so than before...

That's what I wanna know...In any event, looks like you're gonna get yours before I get mine...We'll raise a glass when it happens. :D Heck, I'd be willing to raise a glass before it happens! I'm not a big drinker, but it's true that this process does at times evoke a desire to toss back a couple...

I think #2 and 3 came with fifty posts each. After that it was 100, and then at gold member status I think the new squares come after 200 posts each. The number you need to get another square increases as you go on, but I'm not sure about the actual numbers...

I'm not sure because I'm only at 16 post it says. I read a lot of post everyday though. There must be something other then just the amount of post you make.
