I would actually recommend contacting the consulate - we had to bring VFS receipts in India, showing we'd paid the fees, and probably wouldn't have known about this unless we contacted the consulate. Get on the phone with them - what do you have to lose? It could be different in Lebanon. Also, since it is the US consulate, Americans will be conducting the interview. Make sure you have no difficulty understanding their accent.

Not to scare you, but yes, there is definitely a chance of rejection. If you aren't able to answer their questions, they may not grant the visa. Here are some sample interview questions, which may be different in your case:

Are there photos of you with your mother, or do you have access to her or your phone bills? Make sure you bring those. I don't think just a family extract is enough.

I did contact the embassy today . and they advised me the list of things i need and the only things they ask to prove my relation to my mom are my birth certificate and the family extract (which is an official document) ... I am also going to take a copy of my mom's passport with me just in case

Thanx for the questions list but those are mostly for fiancee and spouse visas. I have had some chats with people who had also applied to F1 visas and there aren't that many questions that they ask us.

I am gonna try to get as many documents as possible .. And hope for the best.

Just wondering , when you receive the letter they asked for police certificate again ? They already have the original from filing at the nvc befor I thought.

So basically what do you really have to get once you get your interview date ? Get the medical before you go was the only additional work I was thinking of.thx
