Even if I were to concede your point, the over all point of:

teen suicides are hardly rare and selective attention given to one demographic among them could be quite misleading.

I suppose if we dug into it we could find other consistencies even more stark.. income, Race, region, religion.

I just have a hunch, this coverage of only Gay kids killing themselves is to further a cause.... and not to report news.

Seriously Danno? You don't understand why there is so much attention paid to gay teens who commit suicide? Willful ignornace is no excuse. Maybe you should do a bit of reading Danno, on why gay teens commit suicide at a rate of 600% more than straight kids....

While I do appreciate the reading suggestions, I think we all know why kids who think they are homosexual are more likely to end it all.

Before you get to gung-ho on the idea that "If we would only be more excepting"... of their gayness, they would be OK keep in mind, in parts of the country in which Gays are accepted and even considered "normal", there is still a high suicide rate for these folks.... suggesting there is more to it than a quick group hug by society at large.

Social trends are always an interesting study, do you know if the Suicide rates have gone up or down in the last few decades?
