Congrats Amy! Most of the guides I've read start with: call NVC and get your case # and give them your (and your spouse's) email address so that you can have documents emailed to you as well as hard copies via snail mail. I think most people agree Lotto's guide is the easiest to follow so I'd look for that one and start reading (if you haven't already done so of course :) ).

Good luck with this more exciting phase of the visa journey!

Lbjr, it kind of sucks that you can't just call yourself but now that I think about it I guess it makes sense since the petitioner is th USC or LPR (whereas the beneficiary is probably just seen as another foreigner until he/she is granted some type of visa).

I have also heard that the service centers send them updated info on the 14th of every month and I think it's true. I called once on the 11th of march and was told they were working on sep 11th and then I called again the 16th of march and since then every time I call I am told they are working on sep 25th. I'm going to call tomorrow and hopefully the date they give me will be on or after the date of my receipt.

Good luck with the NVC stage ;)

Thank you! :)

Perhaps their system have not been updated yet, try calling again today. They'll continue to say "September 25th" until it doesn't say that anymore on their screen. They probably take forever to update. My husband said to the lady "I called two weeks ago and I was told September 25th, does it really take two weeks to process one day's worth of applications?"...she said "yes" and nothing else. She suggested that we expedite our case and she can tell us how to do it over the phone, Justin told her no, he doesn't have time for this and hung up on her...he's not as patient as I am, but like I said, our I-130 was approved on April 12th, we called April 13th and the agents still had no clue.

Best of luck to you, keep us posted :)
