And congrats piglett - it makes it real in a different way than getting the email, doesn't it?

What's everyone doing to keep accumulating bonafide marriage evidence? I'm hoping to get added to my husband's bank accounts and car title when I head up there for Christmas. (and there's plane tickets and a visa stamp for me, too.) Perhaps there will be pictures taken there too, but I dunno. (his family isn't much for picture taking. Mine is, luckily.) When he gets down here, I'm hoping to be able to add him to my bank account, car title and car/renter's insurance in time to be able to send it off with all the rest of the supporting evidence to NVC.

The busy work keeps my mind off the 'Are you done yet?' litany. I doubt it's making me sane about the process.

Good idea! Well, im at a bit of a loss of what else to do!

We added me onto the condo and the electric bill, so i suppose i can add myself onto the rest of the bills.

I didnt send any flight tickets in because i have NO idea how to find them. I must of deleted them from my email ages ago

Other than that we sent in most things with the initial packet.

I mean, i could add him to my English bank but seems a bit silly if im gonna be closing that down when i leave!

Any bright ideas?!

Hey Amy -

I recently read where someone went to all the websites where they bought tickets from and was able to look it up there still. I don't know how, but it may be something to look into. Boarding passes are probably better proof; did you save those? I also know it seems counterintuitive to add him to your bank account, but it would fall under commingling of financial resources, I think, and that always looks good. You may even want to keep your account open for trips back to visit your family; good source of local currency and depending on the bank, it's one of the cheapest ways to convert funds.

You might also want to add (or update) affidavits from people who have knowledge of your relationship and can attest to its ongoing status. And maybe re-send your most important pieces of evidence that you've sent to the USCIS to make sure it does get sent on to the embassy.

hmmm thats a good point. I tried logging into Kayak but my biggest problem is that I have flown with every airline under the sun because I just go with the cheapest on Kayak!

Oh well, im hoping that they will just accept the passport stamps as proof, and im sure they have records of when i left too...

I think affidavits are gonna be my biggest reliance! I didnt have a chance to send any from people in england as there wasnt time to get them notarized and sent over, so i think ill start rounding up family members now!

Still waiting on any sort of notification. Signed up for email/text and cheque got cashed last week...great time to file what with all the holidays!!

Amy, you should be fine with the visa stamp. That's incontrovertible proof you've visited. Good luck getting your affidavits together. Huh, I bet I could twist my Canadian people's arms into getting me those myself. *snickers at the mental image that brings up - me sitting on their backs, non-writing arm twisted up and shoving their face in the affidavit 'sign it b*tch!!'* *coughs* I may have issues there.. Crossing my fingers you get notification soon!

Try having your wife fill out a W-8BEN from the IRS. My bank told me that's all I have to do to have my wife added to my account prior to getting a SSN. I'm still in the process, I'll let you know if it works.

YES YES ILL LOOK INTO THAT TOO. so would that count as another dependent when tax season comes or is it just to have your spouse added to our bank accnts?

Not that I really know anything about tax stuff, but from doing my research on the net, it looks like Form W-8BEN is an exemption form for a nonresident to get out of paying withholding on their US income. How that helps a bank add a foreign spouse to a bank account I don't begin to understand. But hey, if it works, it works, and I'm not going to argue with it.
