Johnny is still around I think. He had posted a while back about a trip he was making to Ukraine. I would also love to hear an update on this story as well as how his Ukraine connections are going!

I have to say though...my MIL is from the Philippines and I have met some of her family as well so yeah...their family bonds and way of handling things can be way different than what I was used to, i.e. my MIL went to a fair the day her husband died...she didn't think if that would look appropriate or not for (western) people around her.

In the Filipino culture, what your MIL did is considered very very VERY rude

I was in a rush and I ended up breaking off our relationship and then got tangled with this filipina who couldn't wait to get to the US for obvious reasons.

This girl is from my country! Yep a lot of them are like that (not all though,obviously.. lol). I'm glad you got through it. Indeed your daughter is very pretty :)

yeah family can be a b**ch and ruin relationships but in your case it was your wife that screwed up everything. im really sorry for what you had to go through. i feel a small piece of that thing and i hope you'll soon find the woman you've been looking for. i almost divorced 4 days after marriage because of my husband's family

Ok, I'll be the bad guy here. From another perspective - mine - you were talking advantage of a young, naive and, I am guessing, very poor girl. Because you obviously weren't into it for her mind or soul, were you? I am guessing she is hot and young and that sealed the deal for you. I am sorry, but I am not really blaming her for wanting a way out of poverty ans someone younger and unattached to go to bed with.

sometimes a guy just falls in love with a girl for who she appears to be. sometimes "taking advantage" and this kind of stuff is not even in the picture. sometimes it's just part of the background that there is a difference in economic status. sometimes the guy is the "naive" one in the picture. sometimes the guy is in it for the mind and soul the girl shares with him. sometimes she doesn't share the truth, but he has from the beginning.

I think people need to ask themself, would a 21 year old girl in the U.S. date a 47 year old men, they call the sugar dady.

It depends on their culture.

For two people from the same country, perhaps it's in their culture as is common in Africa.

The thing here is that baring any personal previous and/or moral issue, it's up to the two individuals to decipher what works for them.

As an example, I've heard that in the Philippines, that it is not normal for a 21 year old Woman to marry a 45 year old Man while in Nigeria that specific relationship is normal. The reversal is abnormal in both countries.

YMMV.
