Yeah, thanks for the help folks. I contacted the big 3 credit agencies last month when I had to deal with credit union issue. I got the PIN lock on all three accounts. The things this girl is capable of never ceases to amaze me. I claimed back a cell phone before she left and I gave it to my daughter. A few days later my daughter was getting text messages about payday loans. I thought that was odd since my daughter is 8 and then I realized my ex may have been looking into payday loans under my name, or it could have just been junk text messages. I kind of blew it off back then, but after the credit union episode I realized this could be a big problem.

She has all my identity stuff. She kept the folder that we used for her Visa papers and it had all my Tax records, paystubs, birth certificate copies, etc. I had asked her for my parts back and never got anything back.

I forget how far away you are from her, but if you are able to report it to police I would report it as theft and ask them to attend the property with you to regain your personal property/information that she is using for fraudulent purposes.

Also change your bank account number or move to another bank all together. I knew someone who had a packet like yours, they lost over 10k. The other person had all of his info like yours and his bank account was drained.

I don't know how they managed to drain his bank account but they did.

Whenever personal information is stolen or in the wrong hands that has been used or has the potential for illegal use you must file a report with you local police department where you live now or lived before. Doesn't matter which location. After you get the police reprt definately contact the Federal Trade Commision to make a report with them also. They might also direct you to notify Social Security. Seems like a lot of work, but it's really not and at least if something does happen you will not be accused of any wrong doing. Someone stole my car a long time ago on the US/Mexico border. Well meany years later I found out from the IRS that someone was working under my Social Security number. The IRS still demanded that I pay the back taxes that the illegal did not pay. The only way for me to get out of this mess was to follow this process. It took years to straighten out becuase I did not file a report with the FTC in advance. I hope that this info helps you and that you use it to your advantage. Good luck.

Well I hope by this time next year, this is all a faded memory. I got my divorce papers last week. That was a somber and exciting moment all in one.

Yep, I changed my bank account shortly after she left. Then I closed that acct when I moved to Louisiana and opened a local acct here. I guess reporting this to local authorities can't hurt anything. I was wondering about social security as well because that's our magical number here in the states. Yep...lots of work but it ends up being my life and my future not hers. And I want a good/decent future. Her lack of a future is not my concern but she's already taken enough from me.

Yes you should absolutely contact Social Security, The the Federal Trade Commisson and file a report with the local police. The report with the local police will validate everything for the government agencies.

The correct order of reporting would be in this order: Police report, Federal Trade Commission and then Social Security.

Even if your identity has not been used yet it's still important that you contact the FTC. They take reports of these things before the crime even happens. I know this from personal experience. You've done almost everything you need to do to break ties with her and to protect yourself. Your almost done with putting this completely behind you. Just please make sure you follow through completely so that you're fully protected. Good Luck.

How long did it take for your divorce decree to be final?

Did you file divorce in LA or in San Diego?

Ohhh Ken!!! I was actually in my music studio and decided to check my messages. Oh man that was so funny!!! The Misfits!! I had a band in Alaska (Dirty Doggz) and we opened for those guys at Chilkoot Charlies. They can party like no one I've ever seen... But yaappp....I'm playing music and sorry but I haven't been paying much attention to VJ these days... I'm sure things will change soon but I'm not in any hurry. My daughter is coming over for Xmas holidays and I'm taking her to Florida to see Mickey Mouse and Harry Potter and just enjoying life as a father :)

To all the other VJ'rs ... Thanks for all the kind words! I know it was hard for me a first and I had many sleepless nights, but life is getting back to normal. It just takes time.

To those going through this....find an activity that you enjoy and that doesn't remind you of "you know who." AND it helps to stop thinking of her, stop talking about her and just forget and move on!! Life is still good. I reverted to my music and have been in touch with lots of supportive friends.

WOW... :wow: I was reading it and right down to the writing style...it sounded like something my ex would do. Yep, she did have an aunt "convienently" close. No, there wasn't abuse and no there weren't any police called unless her cousin that came to pick her up was an undercover cop. He looked more a overweight druggy to me than a cop. And we did get married within 12 hours of her being here because her mom didn't want her "living in sin" ...but I guess living with another guy while married another is OK. Ohhh I digress... And yep, she was on Filipinaheart.com one week after she left me trolling for another sucker. This post could be her trolling VJ for some help in finding some way to stay here. I know, her and her aunt's attempt to do AOS without me failed and they lost $1,010 and her 90 days to respond with my sponsoship was up 2 weeks ago. She's very good at telling stories and gaining sympathy. And yes, the boyfriend did ask me to divorce her so he could marry her and he thought she could stay here after they were married. Interesting.......
