Travel to St Thomas

I have a question regarding travel to St. Thomas. It states that they will check our documentation upon retuning to the US maine land. What documentation will they want to see from my wife. I mean she has a Jamaican passport and an expired K1 visa are they going to give us a hard time. She should have her AP by the time we leave but the reason we are going to the Virgin Islands is so we dont have to stress about dealing with what we would have to deal with if we went to a NON-US territory island. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Also is there that much more of a risk going to a non us territory island such as Jamaica over going to Puerta Rico or the Virgin Islands?

mind you ap should be used for emergencies more then leisure because it states on there its not a a guarantee for re-entry. but brooke and her hubby traveled to the virgin islands you may want to pm her (thompson2)

Travelling to the Virgin Islands you should be fine, as long as you ensure that you stay on the US side - remember that the Virgin Islands are US and British - if you cross to the British side, that's when you could have an issue - if you stay on the US side, you are basically still in the US

You should be fine, but as somebody who has experienced this first hand in 2009, traveling with a Green Card, I advise you against it. That aside, the USVI is a 3rd world country: screaming poverty everywhere outside the world of tourist enclaves.

Go to Maui, Hawaii instead and you will never regret it.

Thanks SUS, but what about when we return. We are actually thinking more of going to Puerto Rico. I was reading on our return trip we have to show Identification. What exactly would Kaci show the people upon arriving at the airport in Purto Rico to return home? Thanks

Matt, your wife will be fine with her JA passport with the expired K1 visa inside of it. The US Virgin Island, will not ask for anything else. Donot take a day trip to the British VI.
