"No new taxes" for GOP -- except a national sales tax

Will happen eventually? Wasn't that the very picture we were looking at from 2001 - 2007? If it's been such an attraction to the GOP for so long, they had the two branches it takes to make that move. They even inherited a balanced budget that actually left some room to play - well, until they managed to turn that balanced budget around.

Hummmmmm, BAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, BAMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, BAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, BAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Four planes hit in our nation being flown by terrorists. Some of those folks may have been caught had Clinton not decimated military covert operations. That had nothing to do with the budget. But even with all that, Bush kept the economy afloat until Dems took to the House and Senate in 2006.

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

New Zealand adopted a "fair tax" system and they are blowing countries away like crazy. I was in Auckland 2 months ago and people are freaking beaming there.

Actually you are wrong. What NZ has is the federal GST [VAT] in place, in addition to income tax.

No country is stupid enough to implement some silly sales tax only system, which is falsely marketed as fair.

What did the dems do to kill the economy? Do you even realize what caused the FC?

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Point A: Wrong...I would ask you to study but you are not intelligent.

Point B: The FC was caused not by bank deregulation but by Barney "the clown" Frank and Dodd demanding an "anyone can buy a home" program. Anyone can buy a home, but only some can pay for them.

IMO anyone who can't put 10 percent down on the cost of something should be barred from buying it. Just an Observation.

I don't know what he paid, But I love a Romeo y Jullieta Reserve 2004...the best year...Maduro, 45 ring...Rush would be proud. I am a capitalist, willing to sell but the price is going up and I do profile...Cash gets you to the front of the line.

BTW. What was the price the Chinese paid to Clinton for a missle program they could not fly?...I may sell a stoagie but after three wars i still don't sell out my country and I do inhale.

PS. Send me that photo...I want to frame it to sit in front of my autographed EIB chair.

Strange, as I have an engineering degree myself from a university ranked in the top 40, out of 9,000 schools worldwide. Yourself? Texas Tech maybe Yeehaa!

Yeah, personally I am used to putting down at the very least 20%. Then again I am used to purchasing investment homes worth $700K and up, considering the median is $500K+ plus in AUS of course. Something you would be used to with the holiday house in Honduras; where the GDP per Capita is $1.9K.

Berney Frank did not approve the mortgages, falsify loan documents, ignore the obvious risk, claim people will just be able to roll their mortgage over, promote predatory lending, incorrectly price risk or cause the boom and collapse of the shadow banking system.

All of these problems could have been prevented or minimized with the appropriate regulation and policing of the market. In other words, the opposite to bullcrap libertarian ideologies.

PS What field are your engineering degrees in?

Really? It was mostly kept not on real economic growth, but a huge asset bubble. Of course thats going to pop eventually no matter who is Congress. The asset bubble was driven in part to more favorable tax policies put in place by Bush as well as lax regulation that occurred under his watch (Something about the economy being self regulating).

How about all the flipping, mortgage fraud, mortgage brokers pushing people into subprime mortgages even when the qualified for prime mortgages, mortgage companies doing no or very little verification on the borrowers?

Of course there was much more than just Barney Frank pushing home ownership, just about every bank, investment company, mortgage broker, and real estate agent was pushing it too. They expected to make a lot of money and many did, until it all fell apart.

Barney Frank did not sit in the lending offices of these banks and approve the applications, knowing all too well that this person does not have the income to make the payments when the ARMS resets. Barney Frank did not create sneaky portfolios and hide the true risk of these loans. How did Barney Frank profit from this?

The fundamental difference here is that Repubs and co assume recessions are a normal aspect of an economy. Epic Fail, they have become the normal for the American economy, the bubble-to-bust routine. One guess who loses out under this system? Average Americans who see their wealth wiped away, $17 trillion dollars worth in the latest recession. All while the private sector who orchestrated this walked away with billions in bonuses.

To the contrary, countries that have strict yet reasonable regulation of the market and private sector [like lending] do not go through this #######. The last recession AUS had was in 1988, once again caused by wall-street and the greedy that plague this country.
