Who would be proud of a third world country? You guys still cannot explain how others tax even more, yet people are still wealthier. Definitely wealthier than most on here.

Ever since Reagan, you guys have had one fix for everything. You guys really need to read up on the concept of communism and then ponder how and why China will overtake you. Furthermore, what it says about your anti-government no tax mindset.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Actually it's you guys who are being like Steven. Ask Steven specific questions about illegal aliens and their fiscal impact, he will dodge them. Now ask one of you guys similar questions about the economy and taxes and you do the same.

Therefore, what can be said about both stances on these separate issues? They both run on opinion, ideology and what others have said [Rush], rather than fact or rational and pragmatic logic.

The elimination of income tax in favor of sales tax, i.e. the fair tax, includes a prebate that reimburses everyone for taxes paid on necessary goods at poverty-level consumption. Effectively, anyone earning below the poverty-level would pay negative taxes, and no taxes at the poverty level. Of course, that is, unless they purchase non-essential goods, which is how it should be IMO. This makes the fair tax non-regressive.

That's exactly right.

Assuming that the tax is revenue-neutral, the amount of tax paid by the middle class as a portion of income, would go way up and way down for the wealthy.

Unless you propose a sliding prebate, which would in the end more or less recreate what we have now.

- I'm more interested in a long term strategy and if the events in the news are to believed.... we are watching how quickly many of these "experiments" in big social spending are unraveling.

- You seem to equate "better" with "income" thats a sign of an empty shell my friend.

-Communism, describe for me the average living standard, sense of freedom and monthly income in China.

You had big social spending? When did this happen? As it certainly did not occur over the past few years. I already illustrated to you the other day, the difference in welfare.

- You seem to equate "better" with "income" thats a sign of an empty shell my friend.

Actually Danno it's Americans who equate it to this. I don't think you will find any other country who worries and cares about material ####### as much as Americans. I just illustrated that you guys have been beaten epically at your own game.

In terms of better, I think the countless studies ranking others higher than the US, illustrates exactly who is living a better quality of life. You guys have not been better in things that actually affect our daily lives in over 25+ years.

I can without a doubt say someone:

  • Earning $55K+ [$100k for many blue-collar professions]
  • With low-cost higher-quality health care
  • With four weeks vacation
  • With a 9% 401K contribution by their employer on top of their high salary
  • With access to high-quality natural food [No HFCS], clean air and an environment that is not tainted [from reckless profit drives]
  • With new modern infrastructure
  • With unreasonable adequate welfare when they lose their job.
  • With low crime and poverty

lives a better life than someone who does not have access to these things - like most Americans.

-Communism, describe for me the average living standard, sense of freedom and monthly income in China.

The China are coming strong and will overtake. Unfortunately the rest of America with a clue, will have to suffer and wait for this day, before Repubs wake up and smell the 2010 coffee, over the 30 year old Regan cool-aid.

You would be in control of your taxes. Buy less #######, pay less tax.

A tax system that encourages saving, imagine that.

That only really works for economies that have primarily export driven. For an economy dependent on internal consumer demand, significantly incentivizing saving will kill economic growth.

That doesn't mean saving is bad, its cheaper to buy stuff on the money you have instead of money you borrow, but we have to manage the transition to that point, or we would severely affect the economy.

That's the idea. Our economic growth should be export driven, not consumption driven.

In fact, it will probably never be consumption driven again (without government subsidies

and other illusory gains). The US consumer is tapped out and not coming back any time soon.

The sales tax proposed is not a VAT. And Rand Paul would replace all forms of income tax with it. It is called the FAIR TAX and it would be the absolute best thing America could do. Again, we see liberal cannot argue the issue without making things up. You lose.

Here is the way I see it. If I said I am giving you a $2k rebate, for a majority of folks, they'd make use of this as it's a lot of money. Now for the wealthy, this does nothing for them. They will just throw it on the pile of the other checks they have lying around.

Most people on here are earning under $300k, probably under $60K. So the thought that I am going to worry about the $300K plus bracket paying taxes is a joke. I'll worry about that person as much as they worry about the American family struggling to pay their $60 Electric bill than that person.

I just don't get what voodoo ###### they have pulled over half the country, to make you guys believe the poor American basically deserve what these slackers get. Whereas, the millionaires and up, apparently work hard and is some sort of battler.

What it's called is yet another libertarian batshit crazy idea, masqueraded as being fair, that is not implemented anywhere and for good reason. That is where it fails though, because no libertarian gives a ####### about anything fair.

In fact, can I have your personal email address Gary. That way I can ask you questions about things and do the exact opposite. I'll hire you as a consultant, as you would be worth every dollar I spend.
