Your thinking will not solve the problems. It doesn't matter if it's a Dem or Rep idea, it's what's good for the country that counts. Cooperation is the name of the game.

Mods look into this account, spooks is being logical, indicating the account has been hijacked.

I enjoy life to the fullest. Those who think that the magical answer lies with one party are the ones that don't. What the politicians do will most certainly have an effect on all of ours lives eventually, whether it be good or bad.

Yep definitely hijacked.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

How does a president with both the house and the senate (by large majorities) get "blocked" by the minority party?

Shouldn't you be blaming "his party" for blocking everything?

So the Dems have a clear majority do they?

The proof is in the pudding. Repubs voted against policies they endorsed earlier, which illustrates this is a cunning tactic to take back control and at any cost. Who votes for scumbags like that? This is not 1994, America is really hurting yet Repubs don't care about this. They are solely interested in pursuing ideological stances. They accuse Dems of trying to change America at any cost, yet in reality it is them who is doing anything they can to push their ideology.

The Repubs actions look an awful lot like what the communists did to promote their ideology, regardless of the cost to the country.

1. But you never explained how a minority blocked the majority?

2.The two parties typically want to move the country in different directions, which votes should they have gone along with to prop up the presidents lack of unity in his own party?

3. If moderates Democrats were not on board... why would you expect the GOP to fall in line?

The GOVERNMENT will not solve the problems, they thrive on problems. Americans will solve the problems if the government will allow them to.

The magical answer does not lie with the government of EITHER party

Maybe we can vote to have no government? I'm not looking for magical answers. I'm looking for realistic compromises and solutions.

It actually shows that Dems think for themselves, than just toe the party line.

So why not just break up the country and then see who wins, who does better? Under such a scenario, I'm willing to bet the Republican country will be a third world country within a decade. It's no coincidence that much like Liberteapartian views, not one other first world country shares them. Then again, the end result of these policies can be seen in the US. Much of the South that has these views, is by definition third world already. Therefore, only naive idiots would want to continue down this same route and ignore the results of doing so.

I am the first to discredit the Dems or Libs but the Repubs strategy and fiscal ideology is flawed, the end result speaks for itself.

Australia has government too. I'd like to see an example or two of successful countries with no government. Somalia?

As usual Danno, you are oversimplifying this and distoring the actual truth of the matter to suit your narrow viewpoint. There isn't a large majority in congress for the Democrats, they don't have a super-majority. If democrats want to blame someone, they should blame the Bluetard Democrats. Bluedog Democrats are like cross dressers, they want to be on the other side, but they simply don't have the impetus to do it.

I am still waiting for Danno to show me these big government programs that have put into place since Obama took office 20 months ago.

Listening to any republican in the media discuss fiscal policies is like listening to some of you guys describe the benefits of illegals aliens or refuse to accept their financial impact. The views are all based on ideology rather than facts.

Well, I'll save you some time. Here is a standard Danno ™ response: "Obamer and the dimocrats implemented the stimulus and wasted all our monies. Obama is responsible for the financial crisis we are in (not the presidents and fed chairmen of the last 30 years)."

No need to break up the country when in fact we already have (by design) States.

let me remind you what a State is:

-----------------------------------------------

state

noun (plural states)

Definition:

1. mostly autonomous region of federal country: an area forming part of a federal country such as the United States or Australia with its own government and legislature and control over most of its own internal affairs

2. country: a country or nation with its own sovereign independent government

3. government: a country's government and those government-controlled institutions that are responsible for its internal administration and its relationships with other countries

state-owned companies

--------------------------------

SInce you believe upon a breakup of states GOP states would be third world-like countries, tell me what do you base that on, I can show poverty and wealth in both Blue and Red dominated areas.

Your suggestion that Southern areas are places of poverty is ridiculous and evidence you need to travel.

I grew up in the North and have traveled all over the south and while both areas have highs and lows the south in my opinion has many more middle class people living in better homes and better areas.... because the cost of living is somewhat lower.

For the price one would pay to live in a typical Levit style home in NJ or PA one can live in a nice two story brick home with twice the size of yard.

Take a PLace like NJ, mobile homes are banned IIRC so what you have is many more people living in sh_ty appartments.

For you the sight of mobile homes means poverty even though many times there is at least some ownership involved there where as up north with apartments, there is none.

Up north houses tend to be older so there is more opportunity for them to be run down looking, duplexes with two different color plastic siding and mismatched roofs, one side has an enclosed porch the other doesn't.

Even the modest cites in the south are surrounded by neighborhoods of large homes which you rarely see up north.

Sure you can show examples of shotgun shacks in Miss. but this is small segments of the South and in no way a fair representation.... in fact even our Ghetto areas are comparable to the average suburb of Phili.

When I first moved here I got a chuckle at these Black kids in fairly nice (all black/ once white) suburbs thinking they are living in Ghettos.

What Danno and co ignore is how and why other countries, who have bigger programs and higher taxes, are doing better. None of them answer this or even tackle it beyond they're socialist.

An equivalent stimulus is what saved AUS and China through this crisis. In fact, when you look at what they spent and are doing, the US technically did not spend enough. China's GDP growth rate is 10% this year. When was the last time the US had such a significant growth rate? How can anyone be so blind or ideologically driven to ignore others that are beating them at their own game - wealth?

Actually states is your Achilles heel. It's why the rest of the world, which now generates 81% of the GDP and rising, is using the exact opposite strategies. It's the oldest trick in the book, do the opposite of your stubborn enemy.

Exclude Detroit and inner-city ghettos, the average Joes in Blue states are hell of a lot better off than their southern Neighbors. I've seen it with my own eyes. Not saying they are better people but when it comes to wealth and Q.O.L, they are doing better. How many foreigners care to migrate to these southern states? Why do you think this is?

I grew up in the North and have traveled all over the south and while both areas have highs and lows the south in my opinion has many more middle class people living in better homes and better areas.... because the cost of living is somewhat lower.

This argument is thrown around a lot and used to excuse poverty. The cost of living is usually lower for a reason. The cost of living in third world countries is also low. How far has that gotten them? Do you think anyone would rather live in a cheap third world country or in Europe?

The site of mobile homes is a sign of poverty. People are poor in these places yet do not even know it. Many still think the US is the envy of the world and that Australia, for example, is simply a country of Dundee and Kangaroos. Little do they know that they are dirt poor versus their distant cousins. The Q.O.L ranking and level of poverty in these states speaks for itself. I honestly could not pay someone a $80K salary from AUs to live in numerous Southern areas. The one Aussie who did move there, ironically now has a dead daughter.
