There is no amnesty for anyone who walked across the border without inspection anytime within the last nine years. The general mood in the country right now is strongly against any new amnesty program. Many states have backed Arizona's defense of it's own anti-illegal immigration law from a federal lawsuit. Harry Reid tried to ram the DREAM act through the Senate by piggybacking it onto a defense appropriations bill - every Republican and one Democrat threatened to filibuster the bill if any attempt was made to bring it to a vote. Congress has given up any hope of "immigration reform" this year, and if Republicans seize the majority of either house (which is a strong possibility) then the chances of getting any "immigration reform" that includes an amnesty program while Obama is still President are pretty low.

In short - there is no amnesty. There's not likely to be any amnesty anytime soon. Immigrants who cross illegally into the US can look forward to a life of dirt cheap wages from exploitive employers, the inability to obtain even basic services and privileges from the US government, and the constant threat of being caught and deported. If the Arizona law is upheld on appeal, there are at least a dozen other states ready to pass similar laws, which make life for an illegal immigrant substantially more difficult.

This won't stop them from coming.

When all you have to look forward to is a life of poverty and despair then you'll do practically anything, no matter what the risk is. There are many countries in the world whose citizens would do the same thing if they shared a border with the US or any other first world country.

Right on the money!

+1

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

agreed with Jim.

Sometimes...those from Mexico that come to the U.S. think that they are going to live it up better...but in REALITY when they quickly come to see the actual living expenses, they are in some instances better off in Mexico

NOW...if your talking "security/safe wise"....well of course the U.S. is more safer than Mexico...but if your an illegal in the U.S....especially when you did an EWI...then that makes life all the more worse for you.

Im AGAINST amnesty COMPLETELY because it defeats whatever immigration system is left for the ones that are doing it legally
