I have read what others have said about calling your Congressman very early in the K-1 process. With the upcoming elections in November your Congressman or State Representative may just make that inquiry for you. Especially if the race is close for that particular political seat. Just a thought

First and foremost, no one needs to email their Congressman unless they are out of the 5 month mark. No excuses. There is no reason good enough to bother a Congressman with cases that are within NORMAL processing times. (Especially those of you who filed less than SIX WEEKS AGO!!!) If you want general status inquiries about the time between your NOA1 and your NOA2 then you call the Department of State at 1-202-647-4000 and follow the automated system.

Please take note of a perviously written thread about when and WHY you should actually call your Senator's Office.

I am not sure where you received this information. Did YOU have to do that yourself? If so, it might be your particular state. I did not have to do anything like that.

Well said! That's what I thought, I was just being nice and didn't want to seem insensitive in calling out the people who might be e-mailing their congressman or ranting about how long the wait has been for them (when they've only been waiting for a couple of months). The link that you indicated on this post was very informative. I hope others who will come across this thread will keep this in mind.

I still have two more weeks until my 5th month comes up. Hopefully, I will get my NOA 2 before then so that I won't have to resort to a congressional inquiry.
