Options after OPT expires

I will be graduating in December from a US university with a BSc in Business Admin & Management, I'm currently on an F1 student visa.

So when I get my OPT extension, I'm not allowed to be unemployed for more than 90 days, correct?

Also, what do people usually do after their OPT expires? Do they or can they apply for AoS, or do they try and get employers to petition for their H1B visa?

I'd like to be able to live and work in the US after my OPT expires, so what are my best options in working towards this goal?

My OTP was good for 1 year.

You can only AOS with a qualifying realitive like a spouse, otherwise you can try to get a company to sponsor you. If not, you must return to your home country

Is it usual for companies to sponsor their employee after he or she worked for them on an OPT? Sort of like to "keeping them on board"?

Sponsoring a foreigner is expensive, very expensive, so a lot of companies will prefer to hire someone they don't have to shell out thousands of dollars for.

At least that was my experience after OTP and in this economy I wouldn't be surprised if it hasn't changed
