So my fiance had his interview in Montreal on September 23rd, but couldn't get his police certificate in time. He returned on the 28th to give it in person, was told that everything is approved and he should expect the visa in the mail early the following week. I know it's "only" been 8 business days since then (and curse you, Thanksgiving!) but we are in such agonizing panic that it's hard to concentrate on anything. Please reassure me that this is okay :P

(I was on hold with DoS for 2.5 hours this morning trying to get information - unfortunately I had to get to work before anyone answered. Arrrrgh.)

I wasn't aware that they kept their phone lines ringing during closed business hours, with the whole "Someone will be with you in a bit" thing going on. You're kidding. This is the cruelest thing in the world.

They tend to do what they want WHEN they want, Its sucks and I am sorry that you are just sitting waiting but they don't tend to do things "quickly". :)

You're right - it's been 9 possible business days. However - nothing guarantees they bring the mail upstairs more then one a day :) Mabel, Ethel and Fred probably take long lunches on Fridays and leave early on Fridays too.

I know you're anxious - but honestly it hasn't been too long (it included a holiday weekend) and you're talking about a government office -when have you seen them act swiftly before? :)

You're right, I haven't - their work has been completely unreliable from day 1 :P

At what point can the wait be considered too long for an approved visa? When is it realistic to start being concerned?
