The rules about ahadith is that to be valid, they must comport to the Quran. Many don't, including the one you cite, along with others denigrating women and calling for practices condemned in the Quran.

Because their is nothing in the Quran to support this report, and there is other information that contradicts it, it cannot be relied upon.

However, the information in the Bible about who committed incest and had a man killed so he could have his wife, and underage pregnancy, etc. are in the book and clear. I notice everyone is avoiding comment on their own book and what they worship. Why is that?

Not avoiding them at all and welcome a separate thread to where we can talk about the character of Jesus and the historical context of this great man. If you want to talk about the stories in the old testament to get away from talking about how disgusting Muhammad was then I understand why you are trying to deflect the topic as I would too. We can have enough to have two separate threads about the founders of the two religions.

We can also have a thread about the stories in the bible that showed how disgusting the Jews were at times to separate even further from the two founders as the stories came before Jesus and has no bearing on our religion and then we can also go into detail about the historical stories of Islam before Muhammad to compare everything in a historical context. I would be interested to see all the disgusting things that Jesus has done and compare them to the disgusting things that Muhammad has done since these are the founders of our two religions.good.gif

Stacking the deck so that you don't have to acknowledge that the God of the OT and the God of the NT are the same God is tempting, for sure. It also allows you to separate the lineage of Jesus, the underage pregnancy of his mother, and the founders of monothethism and their nasty book from yours so you can pretend that Jesus had nothing to do with the history that preceded Him. You also want context for your book but disallow context for Islam.

I understand that cherry-picking, denial and stacking the deck for your "side" advantages you, but, sorry, I'm not buying that canard. If divvying up your book and ignoring context for Muhammad is the only way you can "win", that's truly sad.

BTW, Muslims do not deny Jesus. We honor him and we worship God. We have the best of both worlds.

OK, I will start a thread so we can discuss the disgusting side of our founder.

I am just wondering who "everyone" is? I agree many people don't even know about their own religions, Christians included. I personally don't have a problem with the Old Testament. To me it's part of the entire story of the need for redemption. When David wanted Bathsheba and secretly planned for her husband to be killed in battle, it was in no way condoned and he was rebuked and punished for it. It was despicable and a prophet went and confronted him about it. He repented but couldn't change the fact that damage had been done. I am glad such stories are in the bible for various reasons. 1-to show mankind at it's best and worst, 2- to make people understand that their own mistakes are not above forgiveness.

By "everyone", I'm referring to those posting against Islam in this thread, but ignoring responses that require them to acknowledge what's in the Bible equating to practices they are attributing to Muhammad.

I have enjoyed reading the Bible since childhood. A practicing Muslim is better for their knowledge and understanding of it. I agree, the stories are enlightening and instructive. However, those that level criticism at Muhammad for being a 7th century Arab display a deep ignorance of the place and time, as well as the faith he furthered.

Allah must have been really bored to crate religion 4.5 billion years after creating earth...what took him so long to create humans also? And isn't hell a little harsh for a powerless and all loving god omniscient Allah?

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!
