It's a year yet till I can become a US citizen, but I like to be prepared :)

So, has anyone gone through the naturalisation process in Arkansas, specifically the Fort Smith Office? Would love to hear some experiences, especially about the oath ceremony (ie is it same day as interview, big deal or not, can family come along...)

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

My British husband has his interview set for November 16 at the Fort Smith office. I'll let you know how it goes once it is over and done with! The office has been great so far. We went down for his fingerprints a couple of weeks ago, and they saw him right away. It is a very friendly and efficient place, we've found. The naturalization process has gone crazily fast, too.

I know this is an old thread but I am bumping it because I'll be sending of my paperwork next month!

Any experiences with Fort Smith appreciated, especially how long it takes to get an interview and what the oath ceremony is like (wondering if it is suitable to bring my 3.5 and 1.5 year old kids along).

I'm glad you posted this I've been thinking I would have to go all the way to Memphis again for this stuff. I'm happy if we can do it here I get to start in Oct so plenty of feedback would be nice.

I was under the impression that Fort Smith was not for the entire state; i.e, if you live in western part of state, your local office would be Fort Smith but if living in Little Rock area it would be Memphis. Pay close attention on the paper work they send you as to where you are expected to show up.

P.S.: wow, definitely time to update my status... oopsie
