tax copy or transcript for I-864

I was just looking at USCIS instructions for the 864 and it says to send a tax transcript. I had previously not heard anything about this and thought a copy was ok. Is this correct? Do I need to request one? Also it really just one year's needed?

i sent for last 3 years with till 2009... yes u need to order tax transcript for the last 3 years showing that u meet the 125% guide line to sponsor the intending immigrant and if u dont meet the income requirement u need to have a joint sponsor and a joint sponsor could be anyone like friend relative or household member.. hope this helps

Yes, they are needed.I sent the last 3 yrs of my tax transcripts(Better to send at least the last 3 yrs). You can send your tax return and W2 or send the tax transcripts which would be better. You can call and order them over the phone and will have them within 2 weeks or have them faxed to you immediately. They are free of charge so get the last 3 years.

You can send copies of you returns but they must be printed/copied without the signature then signed. The copies must have an original (not copied) signatures.

I feel IRS transcripts are the best way to go. Call the IRS toll free number and navigate the menus and order the last 3 years of your transcipts. No signatures required, 100% free and takes 5-7 days to get in the mail.

I send in just a copy of my 2009 tax returns and it was fine.

I-864 instructions clearly state: that EITHER IRS transcript OR copy of individual tax return for LATEST tax year is required. You may submit 3 years if you think this may help you establish the 125% of the poverty level. ORIGINALS or CERTIFIED COPIES are NOT required.

Nope.

I didn't send anything other than IRS tax transcripts the last time. And it went through fine.
