This is from a blog post by self confessed Libertarian Conservative (James Delingpole) who is a Global Warming denialist.

Type Harold Lewis and you'll get a zillion hits for all these RWN websites, all repeating the same blog post, but no link to the original source where Professor Lewis made these statements.

Steven...

Listen carefully. It DOES NOT MATTER.

Obama has so f*cked things up that the Dems are going to lose big time in a couple weeks. November 2nd is the day, Steven. That means that Repubs will control the purse strings. That means that funding for these nut case Global Warming junk scientists is going to be turned off. There will be NO cap and tax bill passed. There will be no further restrictions on our way of life. There will be no further legislation passed to subsidize failed energy systems. They will have to find another crisis to milk for $$$$. In the meantime, 12-16 years will pass before the Dems get control of the purse again. There will be no bad effects of global warming despite the US congress not taxing someone for it or funding junk science. By then everyone will know it was a hoax. Even you. You will not admit it, but you will know (if you don't already)

Without dumb@sses in the US congress to fund this junk, the rest of the world will do nothing either. Perhaps you expect China to take up the cause and fund it by taxing their citizens. Japan. Canada...all 30 million of them? I know...HUNGARY will save us from Global Warming. Sweden maybe? NO! Australia will save us!

The bamboozled handling of this country by Obama, has had the unintended consequence of "solving" global warming.

VERMONT! I Reject Your Reality...and Substitute My Own!

This is the way I see it, perhaps the 4/5 of scientist are wrong, yet who wants to gamble with humanity like that? Considering the consequences of being correct could be devastating for human life.

Then again, I think you will find that a majority of deniers, are the same people who think tax is bad and guns make them safer. Get the drift?

The deniers will control congress. Get the drift?

When nothing is done and nothing bad happens, what will you say then? It is STILL a crisis?

Just like when the first few states passed laws allowing all law abiding citizens to carry concealed guns and the nay-sayers said crime would sky-rocket. But now 40 states have done so and they ALL had a drop in crime. Oops. They never say crime will skyrocket anymore and the "gun issue" has been dead and buried since the Dems lost 40 years of congressional control because of a stupid 10 year moratorium on making new semi-auto rifles. A law that never had any chance of preventing even ONE crime lost them control of the purse for 12 years. They will never be so stupid again.

You tell em! What America needs is more libertards in congress.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Yeah, there are a hell of a lot of intellectually challenged here, so I am not surprised that these same liberteapartiantards assume Obama is responsible for everything.

 "we adapt" Where did you get one from? Rush?

Humans have only been on earth for a fraction of its existence, so the whole it has been warmer before and we can adapt is rubbish. Furthermore, we are talking about man made climate change now, rather than some natural occurrence.

It's not about a tax at all actually, it's about changing the way we generate power.

We have adapted before and we will adapt again. This is a natural occurence. We have been hotter in the past and we will be hotter again. We cannot change it and to try is insane thinking. We are like fleas on an elephant arguing over who controls it. We cannot change what has started. Planning for the change is the only option.

Yep, even if there is a way to change it that will not happen now. You can count on no GW cap and tax coming out of Washington for the next decade or so. Even if we did have a draconion tax that forced us to cut our CO2 output by say, 50% the rest of the world would simply burn FF in our place. The end result would still be the same with with the exception of our economy being destroyed.

Trying to change the climate is "playing Allah"

Lets embrace the climate change that Allah is giving us (Allah created man and man is responsible for what the weather is tomorrow....therefore Allah is semi-responsible too).

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

When was the last time the earth and humans had such an increase in weather again?

Actually your logic is flawed. It's like saying you're going to die one day, so keep on smoking. Only idiots think like that.

How about 4-8 thousand years ago? If you go back further you will see there have been several times in human history we have been warmer. A warmer planet helps humans. Cooler temps make it harder for us to survive. Only idiots think today is the "normal" global temps and anything else is a catastophy in the making.

This interpretation is based on your extensive background in science and engineering I gather.

As an engineer, I think I'll accept the unanimous verdict and consensus of the experts.

Yeah, don't let facts get in the way. And as the OP points out there is no unanimous consensus, only a political agenda.

Likewise, when have republicans listened to facts? You guys still assume tax cuts are the cure to all economic woes, though facts strongly disagree.

A physics professor's opinion, if even true, is lame. Like getting a Dentists opinion on open heart surgery and presenting it as so-called fact. The only guy who believes this ####### are the likes of Rush - a dropout.

One thing that the John Smith's and GaryC's out there fail to understand is that it's not about whether we can stop the climate from changing, but rather that we slow down the rate of change to normal levels, which typically take tens of thousands of years, giving life here on earth a fighting chance for adaptation vs. a rate of change that is happening over a century. My hunch is that these denialists also don't accept the theory of evolution, and have no idea how long adaptation of a species takes. And remember, it's not just us humans that need to survive, we are completely dependent on other life forms (plants and animals) for our continued survival. Typically, these people have no children to think about or simply don't care about our future generations. It's a very self centered approach towards life.

We can't alter the global temps in any way. Even if we could it took 150 years of burning FF to make the change. It would take another 150 years of burning no FF to change it back. Is that what you are suggesting we do? Nothing short of that would be futile and cause no change at all. If we do stop burning FF do you think the rest of the world will go along? If you do I have a bridge for sale. Face it man, there will be no Cap and Tax coming out of Washington. There will be no global reduction of CO2. For all the hype and fearmongering there has been no substantial change anywhere in the world. It nothing more than attempts to gain further control. Those attempts have failed. Cry all you want, you are not getting your way.
