What's wrong with the N-word? It's used each and every day by the black community. I didn't know it was out of style.

The point here being that 'gay' is a bastardized word and now people are getting offended that it's being used in a certain manner? Get real. You can't steal a word, then expect it not to be used against you. Too bad, so sad. Tough luck.

you're right. context does matter and Vince Vaughn was not insulting gays at all. It's all 'subjective' in the eye of the beholder mind you. Gay also means in 'urban dictionary' standards to mean 'abnormal/silly' which is what was being said about the electric cars. It's been used that way since I was a kid... so what. No one ever meant it in insulting a homosexual person. No one said, 'don't be a **' or 'electric cars are for fags.' That would be derogatory. That would be insulting and there lies your difference.

That may well be, but yet in the context of gay teens committing suicide because they are still ashamed of their sexuality, the use of gay as derogatory terminology should be questioned. It is true that kids use gay as an insult - and they do mean it in the 'fagot' sense of the word. It's a fine line and that was where the concern lies - it is understandable as well - the point being no one suggested cutting the line, but they did question using the line as a hook advert.

I believe most gay people dont get offended when things are said like "that electric car is gay".
