What more would you have added to the disclaimer on the front page?

Disclaimer: This page or anyone involved in its creation, or members of reenactment groups listed here, are in no way affiliated with real, radical political organizations (i.e., KKK, Aryan Nation, American Nazi Party, etc.) and do not embrace the philosophies and actions of the original NSDAP (Nazi party), and wholeheartedly condemn the atrocities which made them infamous. May the victims of this unspeakable horror rest in peace. As we portray the German combat soldier, we are only interested in recreating his daily life, furthering our understanding of what it took to be a soldier, and at the same time having fun reliving history. We honor the men (and women) who really experienced the war, and we salute their courage and loyalty to put their lives on the line in defense of their native soil, no matter what nationality or government.

Of course they are, and there's nothing desperate about it.

In this day and age of smear-politics that's what they all do, Democrats and Republicans alike.

Surely you haven't forgotten Karl Rove so soon? Can you spell "S-W-I-F-T B-O-A-T"?

I think it is disingenuous to relate the Swift Boat veterans to people that re-enact history. One group was ACTUALLY in war, the others are playing at it.

I haven't heard any claims of cowardice or neglect of duty by this politician's fellow re-enactors. Maybe he ran from the enemy and got hit in the @ss with a paintball at a re-enactment? Then got a fake purple heart for it?

If so, I want to hear about that.

If not, it is a photo of a guy in a costume.

The original story was in the Atlantic Journal. I don't think it is comparable to the smear campaign to dishonor Kerry's heroism. The article in the Atlantic was being very straightforward about the facts - that Iott has a 'fascination' with Nazi German history and then goes on to show how that fascination is expressed in the group's POV with regard to history. While this revelation may help his Democratic opponent, I seriously doubt it will have any detrimental impact on those who've supported him all along. IMO, while he may not be Nazi sympathizer, his reenactment group have a distorted view of history.

West Point has a fascination with it also. So does the History Channel, Hollywood...and what? One could say that Jews are really hung up on it what with the Holocaust Museum and all. So what? He has a fascination with a portion of HISTORY that he had nothing to do with. It is HISTORY, it happened, it gets studied by many people for many purposes. So what?
