Hey guys,

I have my biometrics appt scheduled for Tuesday the 12th at 8 AM. It would be best to reschedule, but I'm too late to send the request in, and I doubt the office is open on Monday the 11th which is Columbus Day.

My nanny doesn't start working till 9 AM because she has her own child to care for, drive to school, etc. before coming over. My husband is out of town, and there's no one I can call to come over at 7 AM to watch my kids while I go to this appt.

I don't know what to do. Any ideas?

Sorry, I should add I don't have the car, and my kids are 21 months and 3 months, quite impossible to take on the bus or cab.

Has anyone heard of rescheduling the biometrics appt AFTER missing the original date? Or trying to go there the day before (holiday Monday) and seeing if they can give me a new appt there instead?

Thanks.

The bus should be manageable with the baby in a pack and the toddler in a collapsible stroller. Awkward sure, but definitely doable, done it plenty myself when I was a nanny.

Or you could call a car service?

if you miss your appointment you can be in real trouble. you should get your priorities straight, I would guess you didn't find out about the appointment today... calling a cab or a friend and have 2 little kids around with you is still more convenient (and cheaper) than starting the whole process over again.

The form should have a number to call to reschedule the appointment. I know mine does, and I'm in California too. Why don't you call the biometrics office and ask if you can come later in the day?

I don't know if they changed format or not, but my appointment letter had only National Customer Service Center's number (1-800-375-5283) and I don't think you can reschedule by phone...

That stinks about your scheduling problems. Sorry I don't have any advice about this, but is sounds like you should NOT miss this appointment if you can't re-schedule. Do you live in San Francisco? If so, PM me and I might be able to help with finding you someone to come and watch your kids for a few hours. It would probably cost $100 or so. I hope this isn't weird to volunteer over the internet but I do know someone in the city who is a nanny right now and I think she has mornings free.

Otherwise, I don't know, you could try Wondersitter. It's local and $18/hour.

Please post if you end up having any luck with re-scheduling. I am hoping that works out!
