Ok, I'm having a hell of a time making sense of everything...can someone sum it up for me in layman's

terms? I sent the I-129F, was delayed a bit for an RFE, but finally got my check cashed and received the NOA1. What happens next? Do I just hang out until they send me the NOA2? And when do I know when to have my fiance get his police background check, etc? And when do I get all the paperwork to him for the interview? (I know that's a ways away, but just want to be prepared). I jsut got the NOA1 and wasn't even sure that that's what it was. I thought it would say, "Ok, here's what you do next" but it didn't...so now I'm wondering what I do next...

July 26, 2006 - USCIS rcvd packet

July 31, 2006 - check cashed! (They must like the signatures this time!)

August 4, 2006 - NOA1 received

September 4, 2006 - Fiance comes out for a 2 week visit! No problems at POE...

September 15, 2006 - NOA2 Approval email rcvd.

wait, and the answers will come hurling at you :P no, really, it's mostly a waiting game at this point. keep compiling your evidence of a relationship. Once you recieve your paper NOA1 or can access your cancelled check online (you'll need your case #), you can register your case at uscis.gov and start obsessively checking your status to see when you've been touched. Good luck, hope you have a smooth & quick journey.

yeah you will just have to wait for NOA2 .. Once you get that they send your paperwork to the NVC (National Visa Center) who then will assign it a new case number and send it to the embassy. Once you get NOA2 then start worrying about the police report etc..

You wait until your NOA2. What I did is between the NOA1 and NOA2 is made a photo album and started printing out things like emails etc.

You will need an affidavit of support most likely the I-134 however it is only good for 3 months so it's best to wait until your NOA2 to start doing that. It really isn't much work. The thing you should do now if you don't have your W2's is call the IRS and order your tax transcripts for the past 3 years because it can take a couple of weeks for those to come.

After our NOA2 I did all the I-134 stuff plus I made a big binder for my fiance with all of our evidence in it.

Good luck!

Edit: it depends onthe country but usually the police report is good for 3 mo nths so right after you are approved your fiance(e) should do that plus his/her birth certificate plus translations if needed.

Take a look at this link, it is the VJ Guide http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...amp;page=guides it outlines some of the things you will need to prepare yourself. You can also visit your particular consulate http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/ to get additional info, because it varies from consulate to consulate.

GOOD LUCK :thumbs::yes:

Where did you find out that an I-134 affidavit is valid only 3 months? I posted the question awhile back, as I was concerned, and someone responded 6 months. does it vary from emabssy to embassy perhaps? It was a pain the first time around getting the bank officer to get the deposits for ths past year. I sent the notarized form and accompanying letters from employer and bank to my fiance last April thinking his interview would be in May. Then IMBRA hit and you know the rest of that tired story. Clarification on how long the I-134 is good would be great if anyone has more info>

I am sitting here trying to think why I know this! Brain fart.

I think you should email the embassy to make sure the I-134 is the form they use and ask how long it is valid for.

I think 3 months is a reasonable amount of time for the I-134 since a lot can change in 6 months- new job, no job etc. When I remember I will let you know and I will do some research myself but you might want to go with 3 months to be safe.

I've contacted the consulate in Brazil and they assured me the I-134 is good for a whole year, even though the instructions in packet 3 said 6 months. So I guess the best thing to do is contact the pertinent consulate/embassy.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

I agree with Mew, because the Consulate in Brasil also states the Police Reports are valid for a year, even though they say different on the actual Police Report itself.

Def. check with your Embassy
