uhhh yeah it means your I-130 has been aproved. You dont sound too excited.... I would have jumped thru the ceiling. You are alot farther ahead than most of us. Count your lucky stars. you are already waiting, so be happy that you have moved on to the next phase of the process. It means that you will be with your family sooner rather than later, it means that your waiting will be over soon, and yes unfortunately, it means you still have to wait......... unless I got the wrong vibe from "how much progress is this really?" I'll tell u what, let me put my husbands name on it and mine too, I can show you how to appreciate it.

"Good grief, charlie brown!!!!!!!!!!!"

Be blessed.......

Pray with me Forrest! Dear God, make me a bird so I can fly far. Far, far away from here..... Dear God, make me a bird so I can fly far. Far, far away from here!

uhhhh yea LIMA it does. I am very happy to see some progress. I was alittle confused so got ahold of my attorney this eavning. While it is possible he could be wrong he told me that the I-130 aprroval is a good step but is actually an approval for me to enter the I-130 process. No background checks, FBI stuff, or anything else has been done yet. The I-130 process will take another 4-9 months to complete ontop of the 4 that it has allready taken. The approval that I will be excited about should be the I-129f approval which will mean that my wife and I will be able to move back to the states befor the I-130 process is finished.

Again, the I-130 approval (NOA2) is only an approval to enter the I-130 process. I am very happy with the progress but I believe that the terminolgy used by USCIS in this specific case is misleading and can give people false hopes of early completion. I know all we have sometime is hope but I was myself very disapointed to hear this truth.

Hi Waiting. If your I-130 was approved first, there's always the possibility of entering the States on the CR-1 instead of the K3 as originally planned. Depending on when it arrives at the Embassy, and the wait time for the interview, it may be a little longer than the K3, but bearable, since the process would be complete. Have you considered this scenario yet?

it only took 4 months for them to approve your I-130 petition? Wow, that's freakin fast! Mine took over a year!

Be happy, this is a Very good thing! the faster you respond to the stuff NVC sends you the faster you'll be back in the States. Even if the I-129F were to get approved tomorrow (which is highly unlikely btw, they take a while), the rest of That process could take almost as long anyhow.

er, why didn't you file the I-130 in San Jose if you are down there?

The next step for the I-130 is the NVC. Check aussiewench's signature for shortcuts to speed that process up.

The I-130 is the requried element in spousal immigration. That's what ultimately will get her a Green Card (either via an Immigrant Visa or the longer Adjustment of Status process).
