Hello everyone,

Has anyone had their petition approved by the California Service Center recently? It seems to me that no approvals have taken place in the last month! The only few recent approvals I have seen posted are from the Vermont Service Center. Any ideas of what is going on?

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

This might be a stupid question, but what determines what service center you get sent to?

It was based on which state the USC was living in. That's how it was in May when we filed, but now there's this new fangled lock box. I have heard it's based on which service center is able to take on the petition, based on numbers. It could still be based on the USC's state though. Sorry that wasn't a very decisive answer! Someone more in the know could probably be of better assistance.

And, to be honest... both service centers have their slow/faster periods, so whichever one yours gets sent to will have it's ups and downs. CSC has been slow for the past couple months, and Vermont was slow before that, if memory serves. When we filed, I remember being happy we weren't at Vermont, because they were being slow.... but then, of course, people were getting transferred to Texas if they filed at Vermont and somehow producing light speed approvals, eg: in 3 weeks. So my "happiness" quickly went out the window, haha.

Just remember... they say 5 months for processing, and keep that in mind. I feel a bit impatient now, but we're still 3 weeks away from 5 months, so I am trying to remember that... if you get in the mindset that you will wait 5 months, then anything shorter than that will be a blessing!

Anywho, if you want to check out the progress reports forum, we're all complaining about the slowness, haha... good luck with your process!

Yes, I remember thinking, "YES!" when I thought CSC would be my Service Center and not Vermont because, until that moment, CSC had been the faster of the two. Of course, the moment I send my petition packet CSC decides to stop approving petitions! I have this idea in my head that I will be able to get married in May, now I will be lucky to get married some time in the summer at all! :crying: I know, I know... I need to be patient, but it's hard. Best wishes to us all in this journey!

Patience is a virtue here folks. It's been preached and preached. I filed 129F back in 07. Took roughly 90 days to go through CSC. If you just filed 5 or 6 weeks ago, you still have a bit.

patience is divine but the virtue is not mine  thats my new motto.

seriously,if at least they would explain to people WHY things are so slow, there wouldnt be this sense of chaos and impatience.

PS: i guess expecting any government related office to explain things to people is as bizarre as asking a fish not to swim, but never the less

Everyone needs to realize that if the CSC was only processing 100 or so packages a month it would make one wonder why it takes so long. BUT they are handling thousands of petitions every month. I abandoned my wife's K-1, and we married instead in the Philippines. So, this is technically my second trip through the Visa Journey. It was even slower back in 07-08. The CSC processing times have sped up quite a bit....

I guess it really depends at what time of the year you file... Some of VJ members (late May/early June filers) are getting close to 5 months so CSC isn't fast at all at the moment. I have been waiting for 110 days. Yours I-129F was approved fast compared to most of us waiting right now.

Well, time of year might make a difference, but when it comes down to it. They have other visa types to process as well. If they begin to get backlogged on those types, they will start processing those to clear the queue. I know that a while back it was slow...then they were processing K-1s like crazy, and all of a sudden stopped. I think that this is one of those times when they are processing other visa types.

I know I have not been waiting for long, but it does not give a sense of relief to know that there are unapproved petitions dating back to March of this year (perhaps some people have been waiting even longer than that!). Well, alot of it depends on how well folks are frontloading their petitions. RFEs will lengthen petition times as well. If I remember correctly, when I filed at the CSC in June of 07, our petition was sent to Manila in early August. I used this site to prepare my package, and frontloaded the bajeebers out of it so there was nothing that could be questioned, or doubted. I did the same thing with my I-130 this year. I too am in lala land waiting at NVC now. I am not saying I am dissatisfied with processing times, but I am a realist. I expect it to take as long as the processing times on the website, and might be pleasantly surprised to find out it takes less...or longer. I just know that my wife will be with me eventually. I like eveyone else would prefer a pink slip in no time...but knowing that probably won't happen, have faith that my package is filed properly, and that it will be approved with no problems. Good luck to everyone!
