I cannot stand people "apologising" like this. It turns the blame on the victim. There's no IF. She WAS hurt. "I apologise for hurting you" - that's a proper apology. She's only "sorry" because her husband might lose his job - if nothing had happened because of the report she'd still be taunting the girl.
