So I recieved my package with my visa from the embassy today, opened the plastic courier bag, pulled out a brown envelope and opend it to get my visa. Only then did I turn the envelope over to read the "DO NOT OPEN" message printed in bold on the other side.

Now I'm terrified that they'll turn me away state side as I have my tickets booked for the end of the month.

I have the visa in my passport which was loose in the bottom of the courier bag but what should I do about the brown document envelope??

Help!

Thanks so much for pointing those threads out. I've called the embassy and they say to just return the package by courier. Turn around within 10 days means that I might just make my flight.

I'm still having a heart attack here but I'm starting to think that I go looking for stress.

Talk about de ja vu, because this EXACT SAME situation happened to my (then) fiance when he got his MBE (18 days before his already booked flight). His passport was inside, and he just opened the envelope up right away to get it before realize he wasn't supposed to open it.

It sounds like you got it sorted, but I just wanted to give some reassurance. My fiance also called the embassy, who told him to called the courier. He called the courier and scheduled for them to pick up the envelope and re-deliver it to the embassy. The embassy then sealed it and had it back to him in less than a week. Major stress but actually sorted very quickly! Good luck to you!

My husband (then fiance) received his from the courier and it had been ripped open in transit. He has I very easy going attitude - not quite 'I don't give a %#%%', but very close. He ignored the problem and brought it with him through POE.. somehow they didn't care. He is lucky that way.

Our VisaJourney started July 2009 when I mailed the 129-F

Fiance here February 2010, married 10 days later

GC received in the mail 10-Jun-2010

Able to apply to remove conditions 12-Feb-2012
