If you do decide to go back with her, make sure she is not pregnant or is in any legal problems and needs financial help. Some thing similar to this happened to a friend of mine. She went back with her ex-boyfriend. She ended up getting pregnant. Her ex-boyfriend who was her current boyfriend didnt want anything to do with her. She didnt want to end up alone and with a baby, she decided to go back with my friend. She cried and told him she missed him and that she saw that he really loves her. She told him a lot of stuff and he did went back with her. After a couple of weeks together she was pregnant. His family and I told him to have DNA Test after the baby was born. After telling him, she was in a rush into getting marry. His mother was able to get him to wait until the baby was born. The baby was born a couple of months later and he wanted to do the dna tets but she didnt. She was like how he didnt believe her that the child was his. He was able to get a DNA test done and he soon find out that it wasnt his. When he confronted her about it. She told him what happened. She only went back because he has a good job and was ready to settle in.

It could be that she really want to be with you, but you might want to find out what happened during the time you two werent together.

Thanks for the reply Knight. Appreciate your insight. She can't have kids and however slow we go in the relationship, is mainly up to me. Distance and time are the deciding factors, they have a way of filtering what was meant or not meant to be. Others may disagree but I really do think they play a key role in a LDR.

Cheers.

David...I certainly hope things go well for you. You are right in saying time and distance are the deciding factors. Life holds a lot of uncertainties...and life is too short to go through it alone (in MHO). Please let us know how things go with you...if anyone deserves to be happy in this life, it is you. :)

You sound like a smart man.

Slow and steady will tell the tale.

And of course, because I, like you, have been around the block a time or two, I might offer this - is there anyway you could discretly find out what she's been up to the last few weeks?

Ooooh, I know that sounds evil, but I hope you see what I mean. Self-preservation.

I'd be MORE than willing to blow $300 plane fare to save something real. I think your judgment is sound.

Hey David,

You are no fool! Life is too short and very precious. Like I posted way back when in the beginning perhaps time will tell. I really did not think this post would be resurrected but I am happy for you. Whatever you and her decide.

Thanks for lending an ear. I'll be going back to Mexico in late May for a 9 day stay. I'll be staying at her place this time. We'll talk, we'll cry, we'll try to make it work and see if I can get over what happened. I'mnot even sure yet myself. We continue to communicate everday in some form or another: text message/MSN chat/webcam/phone.

One thing that struck me was that she was thinking of inking my name on her body. Yeah, a tattoo! I told her that wasn't necessary but it's her choice. All I asked was that she tattoo my name in her heart. She said it was already but that she wanted to show me in any way how much I meant to her. I don't mind. I'm inked myself. So, lets see what happens. Unlike here in the states, the stigma of having a tattoo in Mexico still depicts that of a criminal or unsavory activity. Unless the times are changing and I'm getting old. hehe.

It's good to be back. I have the K1 forms filled out, signed and dated but I want to talk to her first before I do anything. I dont mind waiting an additional two months if it means I get to know my future wife a little better. Likewise she understands and is willing to take it slow too.

Cheers.

I understand your situation, however, the K-1 process shouldn't be used as a trial period for a relationship, it is for a specific non-immigrant intent. Please treat the I-129F like you were signing a marriage license. Although you don't have to follow through, I've heard there are limits on the amount of them that you can fill out. Stay with her, but don't pressure her into it or you're going to have problems. Let her figure out what she wants with her life, and give her some time to make these decisions. Hope things work out for the best for you! (F)

Bonne Chance. It sounds like a very complicated situation. If she does immigrate, make sure she's ready. Moving to a foreign country is one the biggest decisions she can ever make.

I followed this thread since you first posted it and agree with the others that you deserve to find the right woman and am glad for you that this relationship is getting a 2nd chance. You sound as if you are being very smart about this which is great. People do make mistakes, and should be forgiven while at the same time, you need to protect yourself against being hurt. It sounds like you are doing your best to keep both of these ideas in mind. And hey, if we don't take chances we can never get ahead! Just take your time, make sure its right! Good Luck

hey Dave, how good to see you back!

Just thought I'd comment on the tatu industry in Mexico.. it's changing, indeed. My artist is considered one of the grandfathers of tattooing in Mexico and he hosts a convention annually himself in addition to attending many there.

I was surprised at how far body art came and how quickly, in Mexico.

Have a great visita y suerte!

I read this back at the time as well, and thought the same as the rest...that you were being very level-headed and sweet about all of it(and I'm sure it hurt like the dickens too, so kudos to you for that!) Really glad to read that your relationship is being given a second chance, and it sounds like you've still got the same mentality about it. All the best to you, and hope everything turns out perfect for you! :) Michelle
