Hello to all. September 24th my fiancee got an RFE and he sent what info the USCIS wants and they got it last October 4th. The RFE says we will wait 14 to 2 months before we will hear them beyond that we have to call them. I looked online and this is what our status and on our deal this what the USCIS says: "You should expect to receive a written decision or written update within 60 days of the date we received your response unless fingerprint processing or an interview are standard parts of case processing and have not yet been completed, in which case you can use the processing time information on our website to estimate when this case will be done." What is fingerprint processing or an interview is it before they will decide our case or after? We were confuse of this statement. Is there anyone out there from the Philippines who have the same experienced? Does it really takes 2 months or more? Who among here who received an RFE and how many days or months you wait until you hear from the USCIS? Thank you so much for your answer.

This is USCIS. It doesn't matter what country the beneficiary is from.

Everyone at the same stage in the process will receive the same online status message. It's a canned message which is overly vague, and may contain references to things that have nothing to do with your case.

What was the RFE for?

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

It says "Unless fingerprints are needed..." they probably will not be and it does NOT say "2 months or more" it says "2 months or LESS" Yes, it really takes 2 months or LESS.

Thank you so much for the reply. The RFE they requested was the entire divorce decree. We applied for an agency that helped us throughout the process but they said that we will send just the 1st 5 pages and last 5 pages so thats my fiancee did but now heres the RFE for the entire divorce decree. Anyway it happend atleast the RFE was just only that. One more thing, is it possible that even we gave the information they need they still turn us down? Thank you so much.

We got an RFE on July 28. We couldn't respond to it immediately since my fiancé was here with me in Manila then, and he didn't get back to California until the 3rd week of August. We sent the response on August 26, they got it on the 27th (which was the deadline), and it was touched on August 30. We are still waiting for NOA2. As you can see, we've been waiting more than 30 days. The most recent touch was on September 29, and my fiancé and I are hoping this means we'll get an approval soon. I hope it really does not exceed 60 days!

You're welcome! :) I've learned on VJ that the term "touch" is used when a case has been updated. When you check your status on the USCIS site, and the date under the "Last Updated" column has changed from whatever date was written there before, then your case was "touched". Exactly what this means is anybody's guess. USCIS doesn't share the details of what it does to your file when it updates your case. There's also no standard or average number of times USCIS "touches" cases. I've read posts here by people who said they received RFE's and approvals without their cases getting updated online at all.

You can read the definition of "touch" on VJ's Wiki: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Touch

Hope you can be with your fiancé soon, too. Waiting is sheer agony!
