Well, that is great news!.. I thought that the last email you got meant that the interview date was the next email you would get in a couple of days, but didn't want to get your hopes up too much because other posters thought that it meant something else entirely.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday and can find some reasonable airfares. (hint flying on Thanksgiving day is usually a bargain and has lots of extra seats on the plane)

Have your spouse go ahead and get medical done as soon as possible so you don't have any hangups with a re-do on a TB test or annoying stuff like that, so you will have time to deal with it. The medical is good for a year I think.

Hi,

10/19 --My wife hasn't received an official package letter from the US embassy Thailand yet. I checked the US Embassy's website and already know the name of the hospital that she can have her medical exam. Wonder if she can go ahead and do this immediately before the documentation has arrived or she has to wait.

Thanks!

I don't think she has to wait, just don't open the envelope with results if they hand it to her. If they don't hand it to her, they just send it on to the Embassy for you. Check on Thailand forums for better answer to this.

Is it possible to have medical exam beforehand before receiving the package letter from US Embassy? NVC informed me since Oct 6 and set up her interview date for my wife but she hasn't received a letter from the embassy yet.

Thanks,

The medical is good for a year, your appointment letter may or may not come before the interview.. so just look for your case number on the Embassy Website and follow the country processing instructions link on the NVC website there. You might get it email not hardcopy as well, they usually contain a checklist of what you need and have already provided them. The consulate specific stuff is also on the website so you can start gathering this stuff. If you already provided it to NVC you can assume they have it already, but if you want you can bring an extra copy along.

I think it will be a November interview because when you originally posted, the October interviews were already up on their website.

this is some of what the letter will say when you get it:

Please read and follow all Interview Preparation Instructions located on the Department

of State's web site at: www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov, under the "Interview

Preparation" link.

Important information regarding the required medical appointment is listed on this site.

Failure to read and promptly follow all instructions provided on this site will result in

your immigrant visa being refused at the initial interview.
