PAK-FA looks cool, but is still way behind the LockMart F22 Raptor in terms of stealth and integrated battlefield systems. And don't worry about comparative manoeuvrability, because the F22 is designed never to have to get into a dogfight.

As for the LockMart F-35 Thunderpig? I got nothing. It's a mess. It's in serious developmental trouble. It's overweight and it doesn't do enough to make it worth the price. Plus, it's ugly.

India was never in the market for the F-35. Their Multi-Role Combat Aircraft requirement is being duked out by the LockMart F-16, Eurofighter Typhoon, MiG-35, SAAB Gripen, Dassault Rafale and, maybe, the Boeing F/A-18E/F SuperBug. They want something soon, and the F-35 Thunderpig won't be.

As for the PAK-FA, India wanted in on the tech and, with the Russians, they put their money where it mattered. They have been financial backers for the project and will assemble most of their order in India, as they usually do. There was no American kit available to fulfil the requirement, as the F-22 Raptor is subject to a Congressional export ban.

The Pakistanis won't ask just for American kit, either. They have a healthy liking for Chinese aerial hardware, which is rather like knock-off Russian kit at a knock-down price. They are tech-partners on a couple of Chinese planes and have quite a few in their inventory.

The US is generally first with next gen fighters. And the secret projects are a long way from production.

Not quite. Black projects are usually only sent into the white world when there is no longer a need to keep them secret. They have often been in service for a while. ;)

But they're a peaceful people so they don't need a military. Everyone is quite happy there and has a high quality of life. They find happiness by telling everyone how happy they are and how much better they are than the rest of the world. Unfortunately, the rest of the world doesn't pay any attention to them.

But they are STEALTH fighters. No one will see them...that's the beauty of it. Peaceful, quiet, unobtrusive and will blow the snot out of those pesky salt water crocs that seem to be wandering off the reservation now and again. I have a few myself, made them in my garage. State of the art invisible stealth fighters. I will sell them for only $10 million each...free delivery.

dang it. Burlington and The Green Mountain Boys are scheduled to get F-35s to defend us from Quebec! What the heck? Are we supposed to use F-16f's until then? What of they come pouring over the border in boats on Lake Champlain...oh I am so afraid.

I thought F22 orders were canceled.

Nevertheless, how about an f22 to help fight the economy or the dwindling living standard.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

And that's another reason I dislike the Thunderpig intensely. It's a bomb truck. Touting it as as air-to-air asset is insane, as it's stealth capabilities are nowhere near that of the F-22. It will get d!cked out of sight by anything 4th Gen or better.

I still like the F-16. It's grown a fair bit since it's LWF days, but it's still pretty good for a plane that's been flying 36 years and counting.

Mind you, the Quebecois only have F/A-18's, so the Thunderpig might actually stand a chance.

I feel safer now. The F-16s are zooming around nearly constantly, the Quebecois better just stay on their side of the fence, I tell ya!
