advance parole question

My husband and were married this July. We were planning on getting married in December, but our K-1 visa came earlier than what was expected. The reason we wanted to get married in July was so that he could finish his last semester of school. But since the visa was only valid for six months, he came over in July, which was his winter break. After we filed our adjustment of status, we went to the local USCIS field office to apply for an immediate advance parole. We were denied, since school is not an "emergency". Now the problem is, his university rearranged the curriculum and now it will take him two semesters to graduate, instead of just one. This week we received his approval letter for his advance parole. My question is how long can he be outside of the States on his advance parole? We want to return to Bolivia in February. If we needed to we could return in July and then go back in August, but it would save alot of money if we could stay all the way through December.

Not sure on AP, but by February he may well have his conditional greencard.
