Since I am heading back home with my fiancee tomorrow. The question is...

WHAT'S NEXT?!

You live happily ever after ;)

It will take ~2 weeks for her to be in the system from POE in order to apply for a SSN so that you guys can then apply for the marriage license. You get married than file for Adjustment of Status, Employment Authorization and all that other fun stuff. Make sure you file everything at the same time so that you don't pay double fees. That is the big picture in a nutshell. I am sure there is a more detailed thread on this though.

Congrats to all of you guys with visas in hand and the ones with interviews approaching. Smooth travelings !

sooo colo went to the embassy this morning and was told he was approved and then they said they can give him his visa anytime in after 1 week to 3 months due to "special processing" as per my telephone conversation with the consulate officer and email. This is weird because I dont know if its AP or just standard procedure at the embassy and they did not give us any sort of paperwork, no slips, no 221(g) just said you are approved you will get the visa now just wait. BUT even more unfortunate than the uncertain wait time is the fact that Colo is from Comoros NOT Madagascar, and he is not allowed to stay in Madagascar longer than one month so he has to fly back to Comoros, change his flight back to Egypt which will incur us a 150 euro cost to 3 months later just in case, and then when they tell us the visa is ready fly back to Madagascar which is a another 500 to 700 euro cost depending and then purchase is $1000 ticket to America. This process based on cost and length of separation does not seem worth it - im starting to think it would have been better to stay abroad than to try to start a family here in America. With the amount of money we are spending we could have purchased a house somewhere or put a down payment at least.

the potential 3 month wait is disgusting

that where we are right now

Just keep you all informed, my fiancées initial interview was resulted in Administrative Review. The police certificate was obtained from wrong city and it actually needed to acquire from the capital city instead. The follow-up interview resulted in success and the case was approved. Fiancée has to go back to the embassy to pick up her passport in about a week. I am looking to purchase the airline ticket at this point. Hope everyone is doing great and getting approved.

any updates from anyone?

we are still in AP

Embassy told us once AP is done he will just have the visa put into his passport. Bad news, they can't use DHL, he has to fly BACK to Madagascar for it, meaning he has to buy an expensive plane ticket and get an expensive visa to go to the embassy for less than 1 hr to get a sticker put in his passport.
