OMG, who could have guessed progress would be made with Kittyfang's case? Well, a few days ago, we went for my medical. Since, reading other people's experience is always a rewarding experience for me, I figured I would do the same. :)

My appointment was at 1pm, but we showed up about 45 minutes in advance (The doctor's office is about 1.5 hour away and we wanted to make sure we would not be late). The receptionist gave me a few papers to fill out, one of which was the I-693 (only had to fill the top part).

I waited a few minutes and was called into an examination office. The nurses were very nice and we chatted as they did what they had to do (checked my blood pressure, pulse, weight and height).

As mentioned above, the doctor's office is pretty far from were we live and in an attempt to avoid having to go back a few days after, I had called in advance and asked what tests would cause me to have to go back and if I could have my own doctor perform them. The answer was yes. The required tests were: Tuberculosis Test (free at my local health department), blood work for Syphilis (about $50... I think) and because I didn't have my shot record, I had a blood titer done my MMR and Tetanus. I needed rubella and Tdap, so I had those done as well.

I gave the doctor all this paperwork and he looked it over. I had a bit of bad luck with the timing of my appointment. Had I come a week early, I could have done without Flu vaccine, but since we're apparently right in the season, they had to give me one. Also, when you receive a shot, ask the nurse if you will need a follow up. I don't remember asking my local nurse if I needed a follow up after the Tdap and it turns out I did. The doctor was able to give me one anyway, but... you never know.

The doctor doing the examination was very nice. We chatted throughout the examination. The actual examination was very fast. Checked my eyes, ears, mouth, stomach and that's it. I would think that being Canadian had something to do with how fast it was, but I wouldn't know.

The total experience cost close to $200 and lasted not even an hour. Now, a few more days and we'll be ready to file. We're trying to do it before the price increase! :D

12/06/10 ------- RFE for I-693 (I think the issue is that it was not signed. Called USCIS and will receive a letter in a few days explaining)

12/13/10 ------- Biometrics done

12/16/10 ------- EAD card in production (email)

12/20/10 ------- Received "Letter of Explanation" for RFE (Service Request to expedite my case. Called USCIS and was told to ignore that and just send in response to RFE.)

12/22/10 ------- Touch (Email for Post Decision Activity on EAD saying that a letter of approval has been mailed out)

12/24/10 ------- Received EAD in the mail

12/27/10 ------- Applied for SSN

12/31/10 ------- Received Interview letter

01/03/11 ------- Received SSN card in the mail

01/07/11 ------- Mailed out response to RFE (I-693)

01/15/11 ------- Email confirming USCIS received RFE response

01/31/11 ------- Approved!

Pre-Adjustment of Status:

2006 -------- Met Online

02/07 ------- Visited him in the U.S. for what was suppose to be a few weeks (Came in with birth certificate and health card. Health card expired a few months after)

08/07 ------- Decided to get married because we didn't want to be apart (in the U.S.)

10/10 ------- USCIS Medical Done

07/17/09 - Biometrics Completed [ Completed in 17 Days ]

08/12/09 - EAD APPROVED! Card Ordered! [Approved in 47 Days]

08/20/09 - Interview notice arrived dated 08/18/09 - Sept 24th/09

08/21/09 - Got EAD Card in the mail!! :D

09/24/09 - Interview Date: 9:00am - APPROVED

10/03/09 -Received GC!!!!!

Total Days from NOA1 to Approval : 86 Days

04/01/11 - Preparing for ROC currently

06/27/11 - ROC Mailed!

07/02/11 - NOA1 Arrived [dated 06/30/11]

07/13/11 - Biometrics letter arrived [08/01/11]

10/31/11 - Final Approval!

11/04/11 - Received new card today.

Total Days from NOA1 to Approval: 125 Days

Next Step will be citizenship in June 2012!

I certainly will! It has been such a long road that the fears I had at the beginning are replaced by... trepidation! lol! I want it done and over with, yes! But also, I'm hoping that said fears were small and silly and that the massive amount of information I gathered in the pass year will help me believe that we should be ok. Again, my main issue is the overstay. I have no criminal record, I have no health issue, I have a lot of bills, tax returns, affidavits, etc. in both our names... All I'm hoping for is a nice IO and a short, positive interview! :)

$200 is cheap, mine was $350 without the vaccinations/TB test, my MIL did those, so thankfully I didn't have to pay for them, but where I went it would have been $700 for everything :blink:

I believe it! The shots and blood work quickly add up! I remember reading someone's post where they said, without joking, that they paid about a thousand... and that it was the norm!
