Hi,

Im new here, hello everydoby.

I am eligible to apply to Citizenship this DEC 2010 based on a 5 years rule;

back in 2009 I was let go from my job; I then become a freelance writer making, after many weeks of study, a very small monthly income.

During 2009 and 2010 I was collecting unemployment benefits and I traveled internationally to find resources and original pictures for my articles. I do meet all the residence requirements in terms of months I resided in US.

Will this create a problem during my N400 application?

If the IO see the amount of benefits I collected combined with all my trips,can I get in trouble?

thanks

I'm assuming you mean "5-years-minus-90-days" there.

Nope. I've been in a "similar boat", having been laid-off in Oct 2001 and alternating between UI and "tideover" jobs from then until Jan 2004. And I also made some international trips (four of them lasting over 24 hours, lots more within one-calendar day--all to Canada) during that time.

As long as you filed your taxes then you should be OK. At this point, they only care about your travel if you are not meeting the physical presence and continuous residence rules.
