Hi everyone,

I realy need ur help on these two questions.my father is a usc he filed for my sisters and me and our cases have been approved at the uscis. Three weeks ago the nvc contacted my dad to pay Aos fees and sent me form ds3032. I have filled and returned that. My question is this the form was sent to me alone, what happens to my sisters. Also one of my sisters got married after my dad filed for her as unmarried so she included her marriage certificate when the uscis requested for more documents from my father.did this affect anything?if it did, what of my other sister that hasn't heard from the nvc? My second question is this; when my father filed for me he used the long version of my first name which is Ogechukwu and the short version in my passport is Ogechi, I hope this dosent affect anything when I start sending documentation because the long version is what I have in my birth certificate and baptismal card. My other names are still the same anyway. Thanks for ur time. Hoping to get responses soon.

The short-version long-version conflict in your names on record versus your name on the passport may pose some problems. You may want to research further if you will need a legal change of name from Ogechukwu to Ogechi, or if your a remedy can be done on your passport (maybe getting another one with your full legal name). One thing you can be sure of is that American consular officers will not consider Ayodele and Ayo to be one and the same person. You dont need to complicate your life with them.

All the best

If I were you and the passport is new (no visa stamp from any country), I will simply go and get another passport with the correct full name (if it will be too much to ask them to change the name and re-issue the passport). I dont fully know the process of legal change of name in Nigeria right now. It used to be that you can just swear to an affidavit and also publish the name change in one of the daily newspapers.
