My husband has a IR1 visa my question is when should we expect the green card he arrived here 9/16 since he will get the 10 year card is there anything we need to do and also where is the card process at and is there any place to check on it? Thanks for all that can help me

You can go back to the USCIS website to see when they 'ordered green card production' etc.

It took us about 4 weeks to get a green card after arival

Oh it is so good to see things are going well for you and he is here finally safe and sound. Take a deep breath and enjoy your victory. He should receive his greencard anytime now along with his social security card if you checked the box requesting it. Go online and you can seen when the card was ordered for production.

I am so happy for you and please don't stress anymore the worst is over. Look at this as a time for him to acclimatize and learn the ropes of the US way and of course to enjoy being with each other. I know it has been a long and difficult road but don't panic, the US government loves to take it's sweet time about everything.

Usually, the card arrives within 45 days,

if

there are no 'address changes' between the time the DS-230 was filed,

until today.

IF you have had an address change - heads up ! This is gonna be one of the worst 'chases' you will do, with USCIS.

For 'real status' - call into USCIS, get a Tier 2 Human, ISO (see http://www.dhs.gov/xabout/structure/gc_1221837986181.shtm#5 )

and ask the following questions:

--Card Production Ordered Yet?

--my current address is (tell the address) - do you have this address in your files, or a different address? (They can't tell you verbatim the address they have on file, but they can tell you if it matches what you tell them, or not match )

IF YOU MOVED, and put in a 'USPS Address Change /Mail Forwarding Order' - please note - USCIS postal mail normally is not forwarded, it is returned to USCIS.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
