initial review takes as long as they want it took, usually less than five months,so you have to call them.

specially since the website in some cases isnt accurate or updated correctly

Call the toll-free USCIS line and politely insist on being escalated to an Immigration Officer (IO). The IOs know what's truly going on, whereas the people who answer the phone do NOT, despite what they may claim. If they go into their parrot of asking where you are in the process, etc., cut them off and insist on being escalated NOW. If they object, tell them that they're required to escalate your call upon your request.

After escalation, tell the IO how happy you are to be talking with him (this is both nice and important), explain your situation, ask if he can pinpoint AND TELL YOU exactly where your file is. Next, ask very politely if he could please e-mail the floor to have someone physically move your file to the next station, and to flag it for priority processing given the undue delay. I did this when my own file was dragging; it turned out that the file was sitting on a transfer station. Reaching the IO is the only way to achieve immediate action from people who can actually help. Let us know how it goes for you!

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.
