Thanks JA Tam and Nanggroe.

Here is how my citizenship interview experience went.

Hubby and I got to their location at 1:15p. I handed in my interview letter and drivers license. I took back the letter and walked away only to hear, hello! Ma'am! You left your drivers license.... I was like oh no not a good way to start. Then we proceeded to the lobby and waited and waited and waited. Sitting there as the IO's coming out and calling names, am wondering which one of them was gonna call my name. Finally at about 2:15 my name was called.

IO Seigez said before u sit, raise your right hand blah blah blah. He went thru a few of the info on the application. Then the have u been deported etc. Then the would u bear arms etc. Then he said are u ready for the civic test, I said I hope so. He asked 6 questions.

1. When was the declaration of indepence adopted

2. Name one of the two longest river

3. We elect a US president for how many years

4. Who is the current speaker of the house

5. What do we call the first ten amendments.

6. ??? Am drawing a blank

Then he asked me to read "Where is the White House located" ? Then he had me write "the White House is located in Washington DC. I signed my pics and other docs. Then he said I am recommending u for approval. You will get your oath letter in the mail within 30 days as he does not know the date for the next scheduled ceremony.

The IO was neither friendly nor mean, I would say he was professional. It was in Oakland Park, Florida. At the end I said YEAH, he smiled and said congratulations. My file was so thick and it was 3 thick binders.

You can bring in photos, but it's not necessary. My hubby didn't. I'm sure bonner will clarify, but it could have been the pics that she sent in with the application.

Congrats bonerboner..., seems like we're almost get to the finish line of our Citizenship journey...

And here's my story...

Hubby, baby daughter, and I arrived at USCIS parking lot at 7:30 am (interview scheduled for 8:00 am) in unusual freezing morning in Houston. We passed security check then went to the Citizenship waiting room. I left my interview letter at the window (they have a tray for it) and wait for my name to be called.

While waiting, I saw some applicants get back to wait in the waiting room after being interviewed. After awhile, an IO came and called their names and gave each of them a letter. (I thought it was the decision letter whether you're approved or not)

Around 8:10 am, IO Boniet called my name and walked me to her office. She started the interview by taking me under oath, then asked for my greencard, driver license, and passport.

Next thing was the civil test.

1. Who signs bills to become laws?

2. What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment?

3. There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.

4. If the president can no longer serve, who becomes president?

5. Who is the Commander in Chief of the military?

6. What is the supreme law of the land?

English test.

read: "Which state has the most people?"

write: "California has the most people."

Then she went with my N-400 form, and asked where my Hubby was. I told her that he was in the waiting room with my 1 month old daughter. At this point, she wasn't as formal as she was during the oath and test anymore, she congrats me for the baby. Then, we went line by line with the application, name, birth date, country of birth, and so on. When we got to the child part, she added my 1 month to the list and asked for a copy of her birth certificate. (Fortunately I was well prepared for this) I gave her a copy.

After that, she asked me to sign the form twice and then sign my 2 photographs with my new signature (I am changing my name). This time, I really was not prepared. "I never thought that I need a new signature??" She smiled, "You haven't think of it? Well, you change your name. Now you got to get one or you can keep it the same, but you got to decide QUICK!" (She was joking and not joking).

Finally, she said she recommend me for approval and said that she will walk me to the waiting room. She asked me to wait there for the oath ceremony paperwork. The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, Jan 12. (So that's what the letter that the IO gave to the interviewed applicants was)

So, I went back to the waiting room and waited for awhile and received my oath letter, then walked out of the USCIS building before 9:00 am. It was still freezing outside!!!!
