It depends on the embassy. I'm going through the Netherlands. In our packet 3 they said that once we send back the required forms they will schedule the interview and at that time tell us when and where to do the medical exam. I think you could find your answer in the Embassy Info section or someone else going through the same embassy as you will probably give you an answer.

Thanks, that would be the Philippines

Maybe you should call the embassy, if they let you, and ask.

My fiancé's experience was really weird. He dropped off his paperwork in person, because he is near the embassy. When he dropped it off, the guard or somebody said to make sure to not schedule the interview until the medical was done. So then he called and scheduled the interview himself right after his medical.

I don't think most embassies work like this, I think maybe it's because Iceland is such a small country. I am really glad he was able to drop stuff off in person though because otherwise we would have been confused.

Note that nowhere on the paperwork did it tell you this. (I read the paperwork too so it's not just one of us misunderstanding it.) Nor was it really clear how the medical appointment happened or how the interview appointment happened. Luckily he had already scheduled his medical because our friend got married to a USC and was able to give him some advice.

According to this link, Manila sends out packet 4, which contains instructions about the medical exam.

If things are anything like they're in Brazil, the medical is good for a year. Your fiance could schedule the medical as soon as you get the number case assigned by NVC, which is needed for the doctor to write the med report. I'd check with Manila, though.

Also, this is excellent reading for you: http://usembassy.state.gov/posts/rp1/wwwfivk1.pdf

I just found this. From the embassy website:

STEP 2: USCIS approves the petition. Once the petition is approved, USCIS sends it to the National Visa Center (NVC). NVC forwards the petition to the Embassy in Manila. This process generally takes 4-6 months.

STEP 3: The applicant is notified. When the Embassy receives the approved petition, it schedules the applicant for medical examination and visa interview. The applicant will be notified of the appointments and will be provided instructions on how to apply for the visa. NOTE: It is important that the petition has the beneficiary’s correct address and contact number, otherwise the Embassy will not be able to send the K packet, the medical and visa interview appointments to the beneficiary. The NVC and the Embassy must be informed of any change in the beneficiary’s address.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.
