Form AOS i-864EZ (lost my job today) :(

unfotunetly i lost my job today. i have filed my AOS with NVC which was received last week with my employment confirmation letter when i was employed.

If i collect unemployment, would this effect my case? does the immigration find about this?

Or should i start looking for other sponsors?

Or should i not collect un-employment? do the NVC check the current status? or do they go by the tax records and employment letter i sent them and dont look further? my wife interview should be coming in one-two month.

Unemployment compensation is also regular income of the petitioner.

Did you already overcome the poverty threshold as of now in this year? While sending the AOS packet, you were employed and the info is correct.

yes when i filed last week, i was over poverty guidline easily. 33thousand a year and i was employed and everything is correct. i even got a cover letter form the employer.

are you sure unemployment conversation from the govt can be claimed as income? cuase this gets reported to Social security. Cause im not sure if im to file unemployment tomorrow, if it would hurt my case which i dont want. i dont want to find someone else for AOS.

i really need the unemployment money at this time i while i job search only if its safe for my petition.

lastly hopefully, they dont question anything as far as my petition AOS forms, cause of the time of my filing, i was fulltime employee.

Hey sorry to hear that. I went through this a few months ago. My husband lost his job due to the company closing for good. He was on unemployment for 5 weeks and then got his new job. The only thing we did was Update the I-864ez with his new job info. However thats when you find a new job. dont worry about it, things happen.

my i864ez was already sent a week before i lost my job yesterday. i guess i should be fine. i already file for unemployment today. i wonder if they going to aSk about my job at the visa interview?> if they do? what should she say? that i no longer work there?

From now onwards, start collecting all the documents that reveal your true intention to find out a new job, such as resume postings, correspondence to the potential employers etc.

Just before her Consulate interview, send all to her. Also, ask her not to mention anything on this. If CO asks anything particular to your current job, then just "casually" mention it and provide all those documents.
