my fiances interview is on oct 28 in manila,.ill be flying there for this also. my question is ,i cant show much of a last 3 years tax returns because i was living in the philippines with her.but i did come back to usa and got a job making $55000.00 a year.im still currently in that job now for 7 months now ,i have all the paystubs and will have a letter from my employer.,i can show maybe 10k in a bank account.,.,do i have a problem not showing tax returns that i made no money?i was with my fiance in philippines i couldnt work. someone please help if you have a good answer to what i should do., thank u all

Your topic title was vague, so many people probably opened the topic to see what you were asking, but didn't have an answer for you.

You're probably ok. Your current income is comfortably above the minimum required level. Include pay stubs, letter of employment, and bank statements.

Did you file tax returns in the past 3 years? If your income was high enough to require you to file then you must file. If not, include a letter explaining why you weren't required to file a return. If you did file, include tax transcripts (you can get them free from the IRS). Also include a letter explaining that you were living in the Philippines.

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

Good advice. Even being overseas does not exempt you from FILING taxes. There is a big overseas income exclusion, but you have to file anyway. There is no penalty for filing late if no tax is owed.
